Memphis doesn't care because the goal was to land Giddey.

Always loved Jonas. He's also Euro so Nola should be fine for him

Kushner is easily the best sports reporter in NOLA, and has more balls than most with calling out other bullshite in the city.

It's also likely they still try and flip 17 for a future first to add back to the war chest.

Overall, a good start to the off-season though. They're clearly making space for something. We'll see what it is.

I guess Ja is going to have to learn how to shoot the 3. Or dunk over everyone, including Adams who will be sitting in the lane

Unless AD or LeBron tears an Achilles, that is probably a pick in the 20s next season.

Man Griff would be a great GM in the 90’s. He loves these fricking big rumbling centers.

The amount of assets/cap space he’s used on the center position is absolutely mind blowing.

Trade back from #4 to target Jax
17mil plus multiple seconds for Favors
First for Adams and his huge cap hit. Followed by an even worse extension.
Now a trade down in the first and a future first to unfrickup the Adams situation and bring in another center nearing 30.

Amazing

I would be ecstatic if we kept 17 and drafted Jaden Springer

Have always liked Val. Before Morant went nuclear in the playoffs, I thought Val was their most consistent offensive threat this season. That Jazz Series was tough on Val with the Gobert matchup. Fortunately there aren’t many Gobert’s in the league so I think Val could be a very nice piece for us or possibly be flipped as a non toxic salary filler in a trade for a disgruntled star at the deadline if Hayes continues his improvement and seems like he is ready to start full time next season.

Shamit:

The cap room this creates is $36,105,054 IF they renounce Ball, Hart, and full MLE. Or they can create a $21,198,171 TPE

For the record, creating a TPE affords much greater flexibility as I laid out in today's article. However, the Pelicans can sign Ball @ 18M/per and still have another 18M to sign another free agent.

I really like the idea of a $21 million traded player exception.

Shamit was on top of this math earlier today: LINK

Yeah, unless we make another move, if Jaxson continues to work on his handle and shooting, then he'll be the backup 4 and 5 this upcoming season.

If you keep Adams you might consider getting a backup 4 like Thad Young in a Lonzo S&T. Getting Val at center I think you look at a 3 big rotation of Zion/Val/Jax

I wonder if we’ll keep Val or try to trade him for something else since he’s expiring and is gonna get PAID next season.

He’s got great value

If we let Lonzo and Hart go we'll have around $35M in cap space

I thought it was more than that?

Scott Kushner @ScottDKushner 2 minutes ago Man....what a bust last offseason was. Van Gundy, Bledsoe and Adams all shipped out after one season. Band aid torn off, though, and now Griffin will have the flexibility to make up for the mistakes.

Take away the gift of Zion and not shitting the bed on the AD trade and Griff has basically struck out on every non-draft move.

And the vote is honestly still out on his drafting.

It’s looking more and more like the warchest is less about having the means to make a mega move and more about giving Griffin the ability to build a ladder out of his many frick ups.

Hope to see another jump in Jaxson's outside shot. I really think his stroke is smooth and could be a very complementary piece to what we have. His growth is huge for this team right now.

I don't love renouncing Ball unless we have a slamdunk star guy coming in FA.

I feel like having Balls rights for a S&T or to keep him has value.

The rather limited experiment of Jaxson + Adams on the floor was successful last year.

can you post some stats to prove that, b/c i don't seem to remember that working out well at all.
