Why does Zion refuse to take jump shots?

He doesn’t have a bad shot and we all remember his first game as a pro draining 3, 3 pointers in a row. When the team came to Denver to play the Nuggets pre game Zion was warming up taking 3s as well as midrange shots and draining them. Granted theres a big difference from practice to a game as Yves Missi was also hitting outside shots but Z doesn’t need to shoot 40% from outside. If he would take 1 or 2 a night it would at least keep teams honest and open up better looks for the rest of the team.

Probably because he never perfected his shot over the summer for 7 yrs. That's probably the honest answer.
If he worked on it every summer he would have a shot by now.
He really only have one move.

Because he never had the foresight to take the game seriously enough to improve his weaknesses and he just kept coasting on his talent. He can't hide behind his natural talent anymore. Good teams can execute their defensive game plans against him consistently enough to shut him down on most nights.
If he doesn't get it by now, he'll never get it.

It's totally mental, after every practice you always see Zion shooting 3's with the coaches. But he has this mental block during the game where he thinks if he not getting to the rim it's a bad shot. At this point in his career it's obvious that he will never take a jump shot or shoot the 3 on a regular basis.

Similar to Shaq and FTs, Simmons and 3pt shooting. there's just something about in game that changes how people play

Completely agree. He took over 2 a game in college, and his first game in the NBA he was putting them up no problem. Something happened with him mentally that made him stop attempting them. He’s never been a sniper from three but he’s also never been a horrible shooter. His shot is at least respectable enough for him to put up 2 to 3 a night when they leave him completely unguarded from three. I’m honestly surprised that Borrego didn’t get him to attempt more and I hope that Mosley somehow does.

He got the yips somewhere along the way.

Because he's mentally weak and always falls back on what HE THINKS he does best. His knowledge of the modern NBA is slim to none. When you are an undersized, one-dimensional player and play defense like the male version of Venus de Milo, you can't be a team's Marquee Player (unless you play for the Pelicans).
DEFENSE!!! DEFENSE!!! DEFENSE!!!
DEFENSE!!! DEFENSE!!! DEFENSE!!!

Mentally, Zion is a bitch. Physically, Zion is also a bitch.

Jump shots require jumping…

Fat lazy slob could care less. Only in pro sports can you be a generational bust and make over $100 million

Why does the coach not make him take jumpers in game. Why does the team continue to pay so much money for a player who doesn’t take jumpers shots .

He's mentally retarded and doesn't understand that spamming left handed layups and floaters isn't winning basketball. He plays a prideful, arrogant and predictable game that leads to losing and poor health.

I'd like him to be closer to 3-4 a game. Smart shots where he is left wide open, never on a break. Pull the defense out, keep them honest.
Someone called him undersized, which isn’t true. He's the most powerful player in the league with freakish quickness, with a thick build. That's why its so frustrating that he isn't a prolific rebounder. But we're watching someone with a very similar build play PF in the Finals, that is a below average rebounder and the Knicks are making it work. Hopefully that gives Zion some inspiration..

And OG Anunoby isn't the first or second option (Bronson and KAT) like # 1 is thought of. Plus, unlike # 1, Anunoby plays defense for his team.
