What’s the point of delaying the news?

Like if it’s bad news it’s bad news, but just tell us…

Right?

Hoping for a bigger news story to come along so they can lose "His leg fell off" in the shuffle

Probably coordinating this with Zions crew. His image, endorsements, all take a hit. So has to be precisely worded and coordinated.

I was just thinking that they’re probably waiting so the news can’t be truly covered until tomorrow and by then they’ll play and hopefully win so it lessens the bad news

It's all a gag, they're gathering up all the twitter shite post, all the shite takes from media, making a hype video with it to announce he's playing on Friday.

Just kidding, they'll tell us at 5pm today that way we can all just drive our cars into a tree on the way home.

I'm looking at the Pelicans twitter feed right now and they're just putting out pointless filler every hour and people are getting more and more pissed with each one. This is such a retarded organization top to bottom.

They're waiting for the End of business day to release it. And usually when that happens... You know what kind of news it is.

I agree that all of the signals intelligence points to bad news, but I've been trying to come up with how delaying the announcement helps and I just don't like any of the explanations.

The Pels are in the middle of a playoff run. It's still possible they wind up the 5th seed by the end of the week. Get the bad news out of the way and start hyping up who you have, which is BI, Trey, CJ and now Herb.

I can't imagine many people left that would buy tickets because they hadn't heard Zion needs a leg transplant. The playin and playoff games will sell themselves out anyway. I just don't see the business benefit, it seems more like a hindrance to not rip the band aid off.

To me what still makes the most sense is they don't have the information to release yet because they are getting second opinions. That could be good or bad, although since it's the Pels lets assume shutdown and surgery.

It's an old PR trick. Put off releasing the info until after the 5 p.m. news is done. That way, it only hits one news cycle locally and reporters have nobody to contact for follow up info.

This is 2023 not 1978. Lol news is 24/7 and social media retweets every thing.

Maybe they wanted to get an assessment in today and tomorrow before making a final decision about his availability, both tomorrow and moving forward. That’s how I’ll cope with today at least.

Honestly, if he were being shut down, we would have heard by now. If he were coming back soon, we would have heard by now.

This delay screams “he’s close but he needs to be reevaluated in 2 weeks” to me. Either one of the other options would have been leaked by now by someone. Considered the “2 weeks” is the least newsworthy, it’s the most likely and actually would be the most frustrating outcome. I’d rather get a definitive answer

The 2 weeks would be a miracle. If he has even a chance to play thats great. I dont think thats the case though.

Or he could just ink an endorsement deal with Fat Boys Pizza and everyone would be happy as is
