What do you see as a "successful" year? On the flip, what would make you question the FO?

Just as the question asked, what would you consider to be a successful year? That can be record, if you'd like, or achievements, or however you'd like to define it?

On the flipside, what is a record (or however you'd like to frame it) that you would not only consider to be unsuccessful, but make you question the current Front Office?

I will hang up and listen

40 wins, play-in

Anything less than 30 wins is a failure. Furthermore, if they are out of it by the deadline and not blowing it up to build around Fears and Queen

Zion in shape now. It only took 8 years.

Make the playoffs. Not the play-in, but playoffs.

Playoffs are a success, no playoffs are a failure.

It's really that simple. We didn't tank last season, we aren't trying to tank this season...missing the playoffs is a failure.

Now that being said, looking at the team, the expectation for me is....something like 32 wins.

So we can win 35 games which is more than I expect, but it's still a failure from our front office on down.

There's different levels of "successful" IMO.

1. Playoffs + a clear long term vision.

2. A loss in the play in + Fears/ Queen/ Mathurin/ Missi looking like key future starters/ stars.

3. I'd argue its successful if we barely miss the playoffs but our young players look good and we finally trade Z and others for picks/ young players to pair with them.

We have the Bucks swap for 2027 and should get a Top 10 pick.

This season should be focused on who fits, what works, and planning for the future with Murray/ Poole/ Z and their $110mil combined salary up for extension/ trades.

Over half the league makes the playoffs. We aren't tanking and haven't been recently, how missing the playoffs in any capacity is being labeled success is just wild to me.

Moving on from Z and anyone else holding us back IS success one way or another.

Missing the playoffs because Z/ Trey/ Murray/ Herb aren't moving the needle while Fears/ Queen look like future all stars would be successful if it means we finally build the team for the future and unload Z, Trey, Herb, etccc for future picks or young players.

I didn't say "missing the playoffs and everyone looking like shite is successful".

Z/ Trey/ Herb were on the roster before Dumars/ Weaver took control. Right now their guys are Fears/ Queen/ Bey/ Mathurin. If the guys our FO brought in look good while we see the same bullshite from older players then I'm not going to act like Dumars/ Weaver went backwards or messed something up.

If y'all really think the current team is so bad then all you should care about is Fears/ Queen/ '27 Bucks and whoever ends up looking good this year to keep with them.

I find it amusing that people in here will expect no more than 20 wins and then act like its only successful to them if we make the playoffs. Because expecting 20 wins and getting 44 would be a huge step back.

Well at least you’re honest that you have concrete bias that can’t be swayed by real world results

I'm not even optimistic about the season but the only thing I need to see this season is continued development from Fears, Queen, and Missi. If we're lucky, they'll take the next step before the year is over.

After the season, they better have enough data to make a decision on Murray, Herb, Trey, and Zion. It'll be time to pick a direction.

I mean it's a little tongue in cheek.

I'd question any Zion extension.

Continued employment

Regarding the first part of your question, second round of the playoffs was the standard that got the last guy fired, so I'd go with that, but it's totally unrealistic. Making the playoffs, not the play-in, should be the expectation, but I think most would be pleasantly shocked to make the play-in.

Missing the play in.

The season could still be a success if by the trade deadline we are out of it and we trade Zion.

It's a massive failure if we are out of it and don't trade Zion. I will not follow the Pels next year if we suck once again and still have him on the roster.

Success is trading Murray and Poole. Zion becomes top 15 player. Trey top 40. Fears trending toward top 10 PG. Queen trending toward top 10-12 C.

That too.

Year 8 baby! This is the year it finally happens! Got any examples of often injured and overweight guys making a leap from being a top 50ish player to top 15 in an offseason? In year 8? We know what Zion is, he is not a top 15 player, just stop.

Here you go.. LINK

It lists a bunch of guys that found success later in their career. Billups didn't make his first all-star team till his 9th season.
