We either win the title or get picks 1 and 2

No in between!

It's happening.

We gonna go the Pistons route by being contenders and getting a top 2 pick, but won't frick it up by picking Darko

It's not 2003 anymore. Top 3 picks never bust

Melo talked Detroit out of taking him in the pre-draft interviews.

Simply put, they asked him if he would rather put up good stats on a shite team or be a contributor on a winner.

He chose stats on a shitty team, which sums up his career.

Fultz was just strange as hell the way he got hurt and fell off. No one was sure if it was his shoulder like he claimed, the yips, or something else.

Bennett? Lazy, unmotivated fricker who had gotten hurt before the draft and teams were unaware of it IIRC.

I also feel confident in our training staffs ability to coach up players now more than ever.

Sometimes, where a guy lands can have a big impact on his career. I feel good about us having a positive rather than a negative impact right now.

what? almost every year there's a bust in the top 3.

a bust with a top 3 pick is not the same as a bust when picking 13th. You expect to get all star talent with a top 3 pick. There's been at least 1 all star made for like the last 20 years within the top 3 picks of each draft. I would say if you're picking top 3, at worst you get a guy that could start for every team in the league by year 2/3. Anything below that is a bust in my eyes.

If you pick 1st or 2nd and you get Fultz and Lonzo when you could have had Tatum, that's a bust, even though Lonzo meets the criteria i described.

Bagley, Okafor, Jabari Parker, Bennett, Kidd Gilchrist, all busts in the last 10 years.
Otto Porter isn't a bust, but you'd like more than him when you pick 3rd. Won't be surprised if James Wiseman is similar to Porter in his career.

Would picks 1, 2, future 1st, Graham and Nance be enough to get Donovan Mitchell from the Jazz?

Weird player to go for. He's awesome. But Jazz aren't rebuilding, so they presumably value our pick over a star least. And then he is somewhat redundant to CJ. I would think something like dejointae Murray or even Darius Garland makes more sense.

That's way to much for Mitchell

We have our stars, we need young talent, there is no reason to trade right now except to dump a certain player. I'll take 3 shots in the first round over picking up another star who is already getting paid. We won't be able to pay everyone we have now as it is.

They saw Darko’s measurable and thought he would be a genetic freak of a player.

Apparently the only thing he excelled at was partying.

The Jazz are in turmoil right now. Mitchell is expected to be moved this summer. I am sure there will be a huge bidding war.

Mitchell is a borderline top 5 player in the league. Adding him to our core without sacrificing any of our top 7-8 players would be a huge move. Fills our biggest need.

For the record, I'm not saying we should. Just seeing a big opportunity and curious what it would take to get it done..

So far Zion isn’t doing so hot. I am praying he will either turn a corner & become a great player for us or we can ship him for assets before everyone else finds out he’s a bust. I’m hoping Jordan Brand is in his ear getting his head straight. They have quite a bit of money riding on his fat arse
