According to Marc Stein of the New York Times, the Philadelphia 76ers and Brooklyn Nets "are more likely landing spots" for Lue than the New Orleans Pelicans.

This is what I find more interesting:

Lue and Griffin even visited while in the bubble, but the Pelicans may need to look elsewhere to replace the fired Alvin Gentry.

Now do the same for Jason Kidd.

NBA coaching circles rumbling means nothing. The way Stein states it make it sound like an opinion of some coaches he talked to than actual sources.

I’m not crazy about Ty Lue but I really don’t want Kidd.

I'm not the biggest Lue guy, but he was the coach of the team that beat the 72 win Warriors.

That doesn’t surprise me. Those are destinations best suited for him.

Not surprising. The key to success in the NBA is the playoffs. Both of those teams are playoff teams now and they both play in the East. Chances of making the playoffs are greater in the East than the west.

This sort of makes sense for Lue. He’s in demand right now, coaching for an elite level playoff team, and has already coached in the Finals and won a championship. He’s already coached the leagues best player. The pressure can’t be any greater than what he was under.

The Nets and to a lesser extent 6ers are ready to win now and make runs. And he’s already dealt with Kyrie.

A multi year rebuild in an extremely small market in the absolutely brutal West won’t be as appealing to someone like him.

On the other hand, the expectations here are not high and the pressure is low. You have a few years to allow things to develop, and you have a competent Front Office that is going to give you time. You have two of the building blocks already in place.

That’s going to be very appealing to the best assistants imo.

If he was any factor in that series, he would be the lakers head coach right now. There is literally no question Lebron had to ok the Vogel hire and if Lue was responsible for getting him a ring he would not have allowed anyone else to be hired

That was a move by Ty to save face because he isn’t under consideration.

I personally am not a fan of lue but Lue turned the job down because they were trying to control who he puts on his staff, that was reported at the time.

It takes a certain type of coach to be able to get LeBron to buy in. To his credit, Lue was able to manage the whirlwind that is LeBron and everything that comes with having him on your team. LeBron's tentacles reach out farther than just on the basketball court. You have to deal with his influence on the rest of the roster, the entire organization, and all the off court stuff with his crew as well.
