They gave up one 1st round pick for him, and then got to use him to get Kawhi Leonard. Seems like it worked out well for them.

Trey SG and Kuzma SF? Kuzma would be cheaper but Herro fits the timeline better and is probably the best fit. Kuzma is also 30 y/o, I like the idea of trading Z, Murray, etcc and still having a whole core for a rebuild if it doesn't work out.

Kuzma also plays defense. Both he and Herro are on expiring deals.
Kuzma gives more length as well. You'd have 3 guys in Trey, Bey, and Kuzma that can play 2-4 and can shoot.
