Rui has solid numbers and plays 2x the minutes of Hayes. He’s not a scrub. He just dropped 30 on 13/22 shooting. You don’t see Hayes doing that.

Jaxson could definitely put up those numbers and more if he had the playing time. His deficiencies are on defense, not offense.

Maybe he can but he didn’t do it yet. They’re basically giving away Rui for free. If it was Hayes and I saw that trade for him, I be upset too.

He's yet to have a 30 point game, but I do agree he has value as a backup/spot starter 4 playing the sort of dollar-store Mobley role on defense he did for us last year.

Of course fewer teams are looking to fill that hole, so I do wonder if Jax's value wouldn't be lower.

"Veteran sharpshooter Doug McDermott could command one or two second-round picks on the trade market depending on the pick number and any protections, league sources told HoopsHype. McDermott has shot 41.8 percent from downtown during his Spurs tenure and is owed $13.75 million next season.

Veteran wing Josh Richardson is also available for a second-round pick, league sources told HoopsHype. Richardson, a 29-year-old 3-and-D swingman, will become an unrestricted free agent this summer." - HoopsHype

Would be glad to see either of those trades move DG and get done.

I only agree because of how far out some of the 2nds are, 2 are 2028 and 2029. But 3 2nds is close to 1st round pick value which is what Washington was reportedly holding out for.

Remember when we traded Mirotic to the Bucks for 4 2nds? That was 1st round value when we couldn't get an actual 1st for him. If the Pels got what projects to be 3 top 45 picks from the next 3 years for Jaxson I'd take that in a heart beat.

Maybe, maybe not. But they got him for nothing.

Rui has scored 20 or more 5 times this season. Jax scored 20 or more 5 times last season. And I know the season is still going but when you factor in the # of games getting over 20 minutes, they're pretty close to equal.

100% agreed

I've been on the Richardson would be a great bench fit since last year. But I'd take McBuckets too

The only question with Mcbuckets is I feel like Willie would end up playing most guys ahead of him cause he is so laser-focused on maxmizining defense with his lineups. Richardson is at least a decent enough defender that I could see Willie siphoning off minutes for him right away.

Rui is a forward that doesn’t play defense, nor really shoot from the outside. He likes to shoot mid range jumpers. He also has missed a TON of games in his early career. He was underwhelming enough that a team like the Wizards, the team that drafted him and searching for talent, was like “Nah, I’m good.”

This is a swing by the Lakers, but more like a swing with their eyes closed.

That Chicago second was one of their best assets other than the future firsts they so badly do not want to deal. And trading Nunn makes matching contracts on a bigger move much more difficult. I think it’s a lot less likely today they make a big move.

McBuckets needs size at the rim behind him at the 4 and 5. If he can funnel drivers into the trees and focus on using his size contesting outside then he’s highly playable. If we expect him to man up without backside help then he’ll get cooked off the floor.

But that’s the same kind of issue we have when we go single big down low and 2 smalls up top (Jose, DG, Kira, CJ) now…at least McBuckets has a little size.

I mean, what the hell are we waiting for?
and give me McDermott over Richardson, and get him to shoot at least 8 threes a game.

It's important to remember that the last year of Devonte's contract is not fully guaranteed only like 2 million. So hopefully that helps in unloading him

I would take 3 seconds for jax in a heartbeat. I dont think its crazy to say jax has been better than rui so far and he's much younger than rui

I'd be ecstatic if someone wanted 3 2nds for him. I'd be happy with one 2nd.

It might help with mcdermott since he has 13.75m left after this year and DG has 15m left after this year. so the spurs wouldnt taking on a ton of extra money. Richardson would be harder since he's expiring so we'd have to pay extra for the spurs to take on DG's future money

Since training camp, SpursTalk has exclusively reported on multiple occasions that the Spurs are requesting two first round draft picks in any trade involving Poeltl. Recently, other outlets have confirmed that is indeed San Antonio’s asking price. According to the team source I talked to, the Spurs don’t plan to budge from requiring two first rounders to complete a Poeltl trade.

-Six weeks ago, SpursTalk reported that the Toronto Raptors were serious about acquiring Poeltl. According to two league sources, the Raptors remain focused on completing a trade for Poeltl and their offers to the Spurs have been described as “increasingly aggressive.”

While Toronto is said to have multiple trade offers on the table for Poeltl, a league source told me that the offer that has gained the most traction so far is a three-team trade that also involves Gary Trent Jr.

Just connecting some dots here with our alleged interest in Gary Trent Jr.

I don't love it and have serious reservations about Gary Trent Jr. and how his future salary fits with the team. But this seems to get everyone what they want. The Raps probably throw another player at the Spurs to get under the tax. I guess the main question for the Pels is, is there a trade of Graham/Jax/1st that brings back a better return?

Thats better than nothing. They had no intention of extending him and no one was giving a 1st for rui. I dont see how they couldve gotten much more. Hell they got more than we did for lonzo

That's what I'm trying to figure out by folks saying Washington is helping the Lakers and got trash for Rui.

Washington wasn't going to keep Rui and no team was going to give a 1st, so how is 3 2nds a bad deal for the Wizards?

They did a good job here.
