In The Athletic, Will Guillory and the Raptors beat writer discuss potential trade options for OG and Trent. The end result is that they can't agree on a trade that makes sense for both teams.

I just do not see us making a move of that magnitude at all, and I think the Raptors are just gonna price themselves out of any major trade.

I see us making 1 margin move with guys like Willy, Jaxson, Temple, Kira, etc. If we made a big move it would be with JV but I don't see that until the offseason.

Possibly teams like the Jazz would be involved.

This Anunoby thing has a real sense of "I want your really good player, but don't want to give up anything of value for him."

Agreed.

Giving up picks is fine but giving up picks and key young talent (Dyson, Trey) is a problem if I don’t think this takes us from “contender” to “heavy favorite”.

I don’t think OG moves the needle enough for the capital that he is going to cost. Might as well spend more on a potential top tier player (Durant, etc.) than a 4th or 5th option. Not that I think Durant is moved by Thursday anyways.

OG is a good player but I just don't see him as a star, and they are asking for STAR acquisition cost.

Just doesn't seem worth it for what he is.

Raptors are sellers for the first time in forever and think all their pieces are platinum.

Siakam may get that kind of deal. Not OG, Trent, or FVV, though.

I wouldn't say they're asking for star acquisition cost. Typically that involves another star, which Dyson, Trey, or Herb are not.

Personally I would probably move Dyson or Herb for OG. BUT, what else is going out would be very hampered if I had to make that move. Specifically with Dyson.

But from the Raptors point of view, if you don't include a Dyson, Herb, Trey, etc you really aren't including anything at all.

Reports were they were asking for 3 first round picks in addition to young players. Obviously that price has come down.

I would not give up Dyson or Trey for OG. Herb I would part with in theory.

Like when did OG become this star?

Dude is an ok shooter, very good defender and sloppy arse ball handler.

He averages more turnovers than assists.

And picks, and Klutch?

I wouldn't give up any of our guys for him much less multiple and picks just to pay this Klutch douche more money?

HELL NO. He's not THAT good.

Raptors are trying to bottom out and collect stuff which meets their future timeline.

Picks OR young guys can do that along with salary ballast. Picks AND young guys is too much for what we get back IMHO.

I’m not saying “I want OG for a bag of nickels” but they are asking more than he is worth given what he brings to us. I’m fine with walking away if this is their price.

I thought it was 3 1st rounders or young players?

As a big proponent of wanting OG, if their asking price is Dyson and 3 1sts I laugh at them

I don't even want OG for cheap. He's not at all what we need. Another wing defender who is just an ok shooter and sloppy ball handler? How's that help?

We need a flame thrower not a slightly better version of Herb.

I don't want him on the team. I think he's redundant and would lock us in to an overpriced contract for a non-star that thinks he's a star and wants to get paid like one.

And....Klutch.

I’ll give up herb salary and a pick or two for OG. None of the lakers picks or Dyson or trey. Tell them to got take a bunch of late firsts from Memphis if they don’t want that

OG to the Pels would be a time shifting trade for both teams going in different directions. The Raptors wanting the centerpiece to be an asset that could become as good as OG is normal. The problem here is the Pels want to time shift but aren't desperate for it. I mentioned the other day, turning Herb into OG seems like the kind of deal you make after you fix your other, bigger problems, like upgrading JV.

Imagine a world where Jaxson had lived up to his potential and were just a 3&D wing away from legit contention. That's when you get close to Toronto's price to upgrade Herb. But we aren't there so this isn't happening.

Bingo.

We are getting better but not one piece away from being a heavy favorite.

No point in blowing our load too early and ending up fricked for years like the Wolves thanks to that Gobert trade.

OG just doesn't do that much for us IMO.

We NEED shooting. We NEED rim protection. He provides neither at any major degree.

He'd upgrade say, Herb, at a much higher salary.
