Whomever the HC is, they are already going to have 2 assistants forced on them in TSpoon and Vinson.

I want them to have carte blanche on picking the rest of their staff. 100% their choice.

Sam Mitchell was on NBA radio yesterday talking about how he wants an opportunity to get back into coaching, he's an X's and O's type that builds relationships with players also.

100%
Love Sam Mitchell and i'd love him on this team, definitely as an assistant. He's the perfect kind of guy to have on this team as the lead assistant with a young first time coach like Lee or Weaver.

I wouldn't tell Lee "this is your lead assistant" I would strongly suggest him though, but ultimately let him choose.

They seem to be very hush about who the new head of basketball ops is going to be. Could it be Dirk?

The rumors I had seen was Michael Finley, who is also helping with the search, could be the new GM.

quote:

Stein reported that Michael Finley, who earned two All-Star selections during his nine seasons in Dallas (1996-2005), has "immediately emerged" as a potential replacement. Finley is currently the team's vice president of basketball operations.

Source: Mavs vice president of basketball operations Michael Finley is expected to remain with the franchise.

I am not clear yet on whether Finley will be promoted or remain in his role. Mark Cuban is also close to adding a new executive to the Dallas front office.

Sources: Mavs have had discussions with longtime Nike executive Nico Harrison about joining the Dallas front office. Harrison has strong relationships with players throughout the NBA -- including Luka Doncic -- and has been pursued for front office jobs by other teams.

So Portland can’t get over the hump so they are going to hire a guy famous for not getting over the hump.

Mosely is a good coach.

Billups seems like he would be a good coach.

At one time he wanted to be a GM.

They better not hire vaughn
