350k would be left over

My apologies. I kept seeing the $350k figure, so I assumed that was the total Miami was sending us. Still, Benson is a billionaire. I don't care about him saving $350k.

That more a testament to how Pels colored glasses view a guy like Morris vs Anderson

Morris has years left, is cheaper, younger, and a better all around player. Why would that take Anderson for a rental ya know?

Yes, but the perception among most "insiders" was that Kieff had way too much baggage at this point to get any kind of value whatsoever for him. Guess not.

Going to be annoyed if we simply dump Stokes instead of Babbit or Douglas.

Curious what the Washington pick protections are. Blair/Humphries doesn't really do much for them. If the Pels were seriois about Morris, I can't imagine Phoenix turns down Anderson + a protected 1st.

Now, moving another 1st, what Phoenix would take and trusting Demps to put logical pick protections might have killed any interest from NO

Thanks.

That's a tough pill to swallow for the Pels. I would need lottery protection this year and at least top 10, if not lotto again, next year.

For any NBA team interested in trading for Pelicans Ryan Anderson, source said he's very interested in exploring FA so he'd be only a rental

The threat of Ryan Anderson heading to free agency, as with Dwight Howard and Al Horford, limited what teams were willing to offer Pelicans

By the way, the big lesson right now, barring something unexpected?
Expiring contracts, even for great players, are now worthless for trade

Marc J. Spears ?@SpearsNBAYahoo
One NBA team executive said most free agents to be, i.e. Anderson, Horford, won’t commit to possible trade partners so that can impact deals
A bunch of the most connected guys in the industry all saying the same thing. Those same guys were also saying we were pushing really hard to trade Anderson, so we definitely know he was out there.

Why has the board convinced itself we passed up quality offers?

I would have jumped on that wizards deal if it was the same offer, but I can guarantee it wasn't.
No you can't.

League sources made it clear the Raptors kicked all the right tires. They inquired about deep shooting New Orleans Pelicans forward Ryan Anderson and the Brooklyn Nets’ Thaddeus Young, but dropped out when the asking price would have included the likes of Luis Scola, James Johnson and Pat Patterson to make salaries match and a first-round pick in addition.

In Anderson’s case it was deemed too high a price for a defensively challenged rental – he’s a pending free agent

Honestly, I am not too enamored with what our asking price to Toronto was. I rather keep Ryno and try and make a playoff push in the last 30+ games

Houston's 3-team trade of Donatas Motiejunas is in process of being voided by Detroit in accordance with the NBA, sources tell The Vertical.

Awful news for Rockets. No first round pick, over luxury tax, another team determines he has long-term back issues.

Maybe this trade deadline wasn't so bad afterall

Boomtard will be here shortly to say that the Rockets didn't really want to trade him anyway.
