I welcome the newfound cynicism/realism of this board.

I'm fine with it as long as it can be backed up by more than "GRRRRRR I'M ANGRY WE'RE LOSING AND WANT IT TO STOP NOW SO FIRE THE COACH BECAUSE IF HE WERE A GOOD COACH THIS SAME TEAM WOULD BE IN THE PLAYOFF RACE" I don't think many of the Monty haters are being honest with how bad this team is supposed to be right now. The expectations might be more realistic if Gordon was living up to expectations, but he's not.

I mean this board said we were going to be a playoff team this year before the season.

That was always said with Asterisk Gordon being healthy. If Gordon could follow up those 17 point first halves with just 10 points in the 2nd Monty would be taking a lot less heat on this board. Whether or not that'd be a good thing is another question, but Gordon being the closer everyone hoped for would make Monty seem like a much better coach.

Where did I say anything about Hitler?

I just have no respect for Gordon. I am the exact same age as him and would be beyond grateful if I was in his position. His lack of enthuasism towards not only the organzation but to the whole city of New Orleans is simply unacceptable. No excuses. "Social anxiety" is a load of bullshite. You are getting paid millions and millions. Man up and get active in the community.

Chris Paul was such a stand up guy in that regard. The NBA is more than just winning games on the court.

But I just really don't like Gordon as a player or more importantly, as a human being

I don't know about him as a person. I think he's just kind of a quiet guy. He just doesn't have a super fan-friendly personality

i'm with you here bud. I was very outspoken in my dislike of Gordon throughout the free agency debacle. I will root for him to score and do well when he is on the court but outside of that I do not respect the guy or like him very much

To your earlier post, anyone that was predicting playoffs was being extremely optimistic- which is perfectly fine. Even with health, relying on a 19 year old rookie and 3 other first time starters was always going to be tough to overcome.

quote:

And then the worst part is Monty is really just not showing me much anymore. Bad sets, bad defense, the team as a whole just not seeming to play with as much fire.

I think Monty does run good sets, just usually not in the final minutes for some unknown reason. He called a timeout and got an open corner 3 for Ryno with about 90 seconds left- shot was missed though. Then we got the clusterfrick for the last shot.

The defense has been awful: a good bit of that is poor talent (Lopez defending the PnR is vomit inducing) and then youth. But Monty's always been a little overrated as a defensive mastermind. His teams play so slow that their ppg is always going to look good. In 3 seasons, his defenses have been ranked 8th, 16th, and 27th in Defensive Efficiency according to NBA.com.

His scheme could use some tweaking- the Hornets give up the 3rd most corner 3s this season, the most last season, and 16th in 2010-2011. That needs to change,

The problem is that we're paying Eric Gordon entirely too much money. He's a joke of a max player.

My only hope for EG is that it's a game shape issue. He went a long time without playing basketball, maybe he still needs some time. He averages 17ppg on 40% shooting, I'd say he has to be around 11 or 12 points on 45% shooting in the first half. It's not like he's just been anti clutch, he's played like shite with quite a bit of time to go in games that we're getting blown out in.

He looks fat and uncoordinated. Not what I want to see from a guy getting paid like a star.

If he has it then he should get help. Go talk to someone or get a benzo script or something. I am pretty sure he doesn't even have a charity established. Maybe I wouldn't feel as bad if he donated a decent amount of money to a good cause, but instead he is just laughing his way to the bank with the worst contract in the NBA.

If we can't trade him I hope he lives in the gym for the entire offseason.

1) how do you know he isn't already

2) you do realize that it's social anxiety disorder...they're a population that's towards the bottom in likelihood to seek help because...wait for it...

THEY'RE ANXIOUS IN SOCIAL SITUATIONS.

His tweeting has gotten noticeably better this season so I think he is getting some help at least.

He has an agent that should take care of it.

Why are you defending him so much? What has he done to earn your loyalty?

I want to like the guy, I really do. He just hasn't given me a damn reason why outside of a game winning shot two years ago in Phoenix and a monster dunk at Brooklyn last week.

that's just ridiculous. the agent can't force him to therapy.

why are you hating on the guy so much? outside of the phoenix thing, what has he done in the past year to have you hate him as a human being...your quote, not mine
