Why would we want a guy that shoots 65%+ from 2 to focus on a shot that at best will be 33%-35% for him. Just let him keep going to the rim.

Totally agree...and why any discussion of Zion shooting 3s is a silly waste of time....and fwiw...for his career, Zion is shooting 70.3% from 0-3'...48.3% from 3-10'...41.7% from 10-16'... 41.7% from 16-3 pt line...and 33% from 3 pt line. Obviously, Zion does NOT need to be taking shots from anywhere beyond 10'...actually, a deeper analysis would suggest he shouldn't take shots from beyond 7'.

He's going to need to take 3-4 a game regardless of his percentage. It's the long game with that shot and he has to get comfortable and confident in that shot to develop it. Taking 1 a quarter shouldn't be a hard ask for him. It's a wide open practice shot. We just don't have the coach to motivate him to shoot it and that needs to change.

4-4 against the Spurs in his debut. Very realistic, in fact, I’d even say likely.

When or how did we get Naz Reid?

So why hasn't he done it again in the 5 1/2 years since?

By the time we lost Herb and definitely by the time we lost Murray, our season was lost
We were going through the motions at the beginning of the season
Z wasn’t playing hard or often. Herb’s defense had significantly declined. Murray didn’t start playing decent for 2 months (understandable with off court trauma). CJ was CJ. Hot and Cold. It was a horrible start. We came out cocky and passive, thinking 49 wins was the floor.
The only guy that came out to play to start the season was Missi. And luckily he did, otherwise we’d probably have 8 wins instead of 16 right now.

Zion and McCollum are both out tonight. Zion is just listed as rest. McCollum sprained his ankle.
So, he's a 'star' in his best shape ever. Never been so light. Yet he breaks 30 minutes for the first time in almost 4 months, and he needs a night off. You can't make this stuff up..

You realize he’s not choosing that, right? Pels want to lose more than win right now. Zion counters that a bit.
I’m good with it

Best practice is to ignore retards like him. He knows it’s an organizational decision to rest Zion on B2B’s but he’ll complain anyways.

He's expected to be a FA this summer.

It's smart if we're forced to be realistic. Whatever they were trying before clearly wasn't working. Pels staff were beating their heads against a wall repeatedly. They have a good thing going now with Z playing 28-30 min and no B2Bs. He looks lighter and fresh on both ends of the court. Keep it going and slowly see if he can handle more mins next season.

And he will get far more money than we can pay him

It'll be an interesting free agency. This is the first time in Griff's tenure thar there will be bigs who compliments Williamson on the open market. Lopez, Turner, and Reid to name a few. Curious to see if they make a run for any of those guys. They are definitely going to be overpaid.

We have been over this. They cannot sit him if he wants to play. No doctor or medical staff have ruled him unfit. If he wants to play, he could. They agreed to this arrangement for some reason. It is dumb and serves no purpose.

Is it more important to lose or for Zion to keep ascending? He's starting to warm up and you shut him down?

If the team can just tell him to take the night off, cause they don't feel it's important to play (or they want to lose), why wouldn't Zion be able to make the same decision about games in the future? Is this really the type of mindset or behavior we would want to encourage?

You do realize that Murray got hurt in the first game of the season and missed the next 6 weeks? You also realize that Herb injured his shoulder in the second game of the season I Portland diving on a loose ball? Zion was hurt in the 6th game of the season. Trey was hurt a week before the season started. I just don’t get your argument. The team lost four of their top 7 players, including their best player, best shooter, best defender, and big offseason aquisition before game 7 was completed.

You do realize that the only reason why Murray got injured is because Z took a personal day on game 1 of the season?
The trickle down effect is real and it started with Z quitting on his teammates before the season even started.
We have injuries and mental Health days every single season. It’s the reason why we need to move on from this front office and group overall. This is who they are.
When you remove dawgs like Naji and Jonas. We didn’t have the guys to cover up for the personal days Z likes to take.
Nance was a big loss leadership wise as well. I don’t hate the move to go get Dejounte, but it backfired bc Ingram and Zion are not reliable A and B players and we 100% lost our most reliable players in the process of that trade and free agency.
If this wasn’t year 6 of this era, I’d be more willing to chalk this season up as a fluke lost to injuries.
However, the data says, this is who we are with Z as our best guy.
