This is literally every single draft…

I love Jones. He's my 2nd favorite player on the team. But what's his ceiling? A quieter Dillon Brooks?
That's a hell of a player and super valuable. But he's not a high end starter. I have no idea if Sarr is going to be any good. But I will guarantee you there will be stars that come out of this draft, even potential franchise level players. So a #1 pick holds a ton of value, especially if we can find one of those. We can take whoever we want.

In 3 weeks, this narrative is gone, especially when draft hype starts. We're all going to want a top pick.

I doubt it.
The top guys in this draft all have very high bustability

Perception doesn’t always match reality but this is perceived to be one of the weakest drafts since Anthony Bennett went first overall and flopped horribly.
Most of that draft was shite outside of Giannis and he was seen as a major project.

quote:You are right, a star could come from this draft. It could even be at 15 like Giannis. Sarr could end up being a star. However, it is a crapshoot and Herb is a proven commodity. If Griffin thinks we are close, he is not going to risk that move of trading the proven commodity for the lottery ticket. Could be the wrong move, but I do not see him making that move.

We have been drafting pretty well. If there is someone who they really like, they should go for it. But the leash Willie puts on his rookies is tough to watch.

There’s some talk on trading for Zion by Thunder fans. And one person said that we’ve had CP3, AD and Zion and have nothing to show for it. While that’s very true….the Thunder had 3 MVPs in a row and have nothing to show for it. Also had Sabonis, Oladipo, PG, Melo, Ibaka, SGA etc.

Last 3 years, I'd say above average. Considering where they were picked of course.

I know this is the perception, but this isn't true. It's one of the strongest drafts I have seen, just not at the top. Take the top 10 best players..
McCollum/Schroder
KCP/Oladipo
Porter JR/Hardaway JR
Giannis/Olynyk
Gobert/Adams
That's as strong as any draft ever. There's at least 5 more rotational guys as well in the 1st round. That's a hit rate of about 50%. That's solid.

Yeah, the didn’t like it when I told them the conversations would start with Chet and picks. They changed their tune quick

Why should a team that’s trying to compete trade a good role player for another good role player and a good chance at a star player….
Hmmm, I just don’t know why any team would want to do that…

Hawks: BI
Rockets: Cappella + Liddell + 24' 1st via Pels
Cavs: Nance + Landale + 25' 1st via Pels
Pels: Trae + Allen + Teri Eason
Hawks say yes. Do Cavs/ Houston?
Houston gets another pick and plenty cap space for a big move. They also upgrade at Center for the year.
Cavs get a solid center rotational player, 1st and a PF pretending to be a hybrid undersized center.
May have to add 1 more pick/ swap to Cavs but I could see this working.
Trae/ Jose
Herb/ CJ/ Hawk
Trey/ Dyson/ Ryan
Zion/ Eason/
Allen/

Capela is not an upgrade to Sengun

Bruh they don't fricking lose Sengun
Sengun/ > Sengun/ Cappella
????
Upgrade? Get better at the position.

If we signed Val to backup Jarrett Allen then I guess we wouldn't be upgrading center because we signed Val.
Why do y'all have to do this shite to me so early lol

Rockets have Steven Adams too. No interest in Capella
Posted on 6/4/24 at 8:29 am to Dantheman504
Sure I guess, but are they really looking to upgrade the 15 backup minutes at center?
Posted on 6/4/24 at 8:35 am to Epic Cajun
They will be paying Sengun in 1-2 years.
This gives them a large expiring contract to trade or create cap space.
He IS an upgrade over Landale for the year. (Neither will be there long term)
They get an extra pick out of it for cap space/ continuity
Its more so a trade to set up their big trade
Capella + Brooks + young players + picks lands them their next star
I'm not saying they have to or will but it isn't out of the realm of possibilities.
I think there was also a few rumors with them wanting Capella but it could have been plants from ATL

I understand. They have essentially the rest of their roster set so a move like this wouldn't chsnge much there. Again it would be more of a positioning move.
Capella is still an upgrade > Landale/ Adams
He's also more athletic and can give them different type of lineups.
Its also not a bad thing to put the best possible player with your current best player at the position if you can.
I don't think anyone is going "damn I really wish we had a shittier backup PF and Center to backup Zion"
If it is going to be a short term option anyway then it technically makes them better and they get a 1st.
