Celtics also got better by shipping him out because he couldn’t handle the role they gave him.

Why would the Celtics include him?

Durant’s market is diminished because of his age and injury history and, because of how things have worked out this offseason, there are few places which either would take him or could take him.

If the Celtics feel they have a good enough team without him and that no one else is seriously bidding, why give a Godfather offer?

Didn't say they should. I was just stating what I read which was different from the report someone above posted.

here's what shams is reporting

quote:

The Celtics offered Brown, guard Derrick White and a draft pick to the Nets for Durant, sources said. The proposal was rejected, and Brooklyn has asked Boston — in any proposal — to include Brown, Defensive Player of the Year Marcus Smart, draft picks and potentially one more rotation player, those sources added. Currently, the Celtics are less inclined to include Smart along with multiple other player assets or pick assets, but the franchise is mulling over next steps on how to approach discussions.

Imagine gutting your Finals team for a player who doesnt guarantee you a championship.

I can't imagine Brooklyn will get a better offer than that.

That sounds like what I read. Thanks

Brown is certainly a solid centerpiece to the trade. Maybe Boston can add Grant Williams and/or another pick to beef up the offer.

decent summary of the lakers-pacers situation re: westbrook

one 1st to take on westbrook's 47MM
one 1st to give up hield & turner
both teams "should" be motivated to make the deal
seems inevitable?

The only remote chance is if KD and Kyrie each play 70+ games

They've both done that once in the past 6 seasons.

In fairytale unicorn land where everyone on their team is healthy (both physically and mentally) and plays 70+ games, I think they have one of the highest ceilings in the league. It's just that they probably have one of lowest chances of that happening.

It's odd to watch Pelican fans bank on full health. But doubt other teams will be granted the same luck..

Pels have health questions for sure, mostly all centering around Zion and to a lesser extent CJ/Bi

Nets are on another level.

They remind me of the Jrue/Evans/Ryno/AD/Gordon core. Where literally everyone on that lineup was struggling with injury issues and/or came to the team being injury prone. We were banking on the unbankable which was everyone magically getting healthy together and staying that way.

Nets basically have a roster full of injury prone guys or guys coming off major injury: Kyrie, KD, Simmons, Warren, Joe Harris. Thats a lot of "if this guy can get/stay healthy" And "If this guy can/stay get healthy" X4.

That's just a lot of what-ifs to need all going right.

Right, currently in the healthy/happy category for "star" players, the Pels are 3/3. The Nets are 0/3 at this moment.

Lakers are kicking the tires on Shabazz Muhammed, apparently.

He’s been playing in the Chinese league and Philippines league the past few years from what I can tell, with his last time in the NBA being on the Bucks.

the other guards are small or teeny.
I would rather add a bigger guard 6 3 or more.

I just read an interview he did last spring. It's amazing how thin the line is from being in the league or out. It sounds like he is trying hard and has played well internationally. But even he knows he'd be a deep bench guy. It's just cheaper to pick up a rookie or a younger guy with some potential.

Not when you consider Kobe and Nash played together more in one injury-plagued season than Durant and Kyrie have in 3
