The leak from the Nets essentially said that Brown was offered, but the Nets wanted Brown+Smart+picks. Basically the Nets still saying "if you guys want Durant you're going to have to offer more" to the rest of the league.

And all indications are that teams made their offers to the Nets and are either unwilling or unable to up them.

This has not played out the way they have wanted it to, unless their plan was to tell Durant “We tried”.

I think it played out exactly how they wanted it. They don't really want to trade Durant.

If so, it is a dangerous game to play.

That locker room will be very messy this season. shite goes sideways early and they may be forced to start trading people regardless of what they intended.

Kyrie + Smart + Simmons + Brown seems like a pretty fun team IMO.

Decent mix of youth, shooting, defense, and upside.

Might be fun but I haven’t seen any report Nets want kyrie on team without KD.

And they can use the Gobert/Jrue/AD trade as examples for why KD demands so much.

I can't blame the Nets. They have had a really good offseason. If they get Simmons and Harris back to form, it might be the most loaded team in the league. They should be a top pick to win the title. Why not give it one more year?

No depth and a locker room where the chemistry is fricked from what I am seeing.

They get into the playoffs, anything can happen. But a big three of Kyrie, Simmons, and an injured Durant just screams problems due to injuries / off court shite.

In what way have they had a really good offseason?

TJ Warren, IF he can get back to form is a solid get. Royce O'Neal is solid too.

But Joe Harris may never be the same again, and seems like he is very slow in his recovery, Simmons is still trying to shoot with the wrong hand and Kyrie/KD hate their FO and the Nash situation seems to be a ticking time bomb. No true center.

Kyrie was getting hunted in the playoffs like he was Kemba and a backcourt of him and Seth is gonna be feasting for basically every contender they will have to get through.

KD can single-handedly win you a series, but can he do it thru an entire playoff gauntlet? Cause that team is not gonna be stopping too many people.

While true, we learned with AD that this probably wouldn't hurt KD's trade value, so a lot of those offers would probably still be available.

Doesn’t directly hurt KD’s trade value but it potentially impacts the team and its fan base given that Joe Tsai has apparently had enough of the bullshite.

Getting the players back in line is good if it works.

If it doesn’t, you have another dumpster fire year and potentially end up getting little if anything for Kyrie and Simmons.

No depth? It's one of the deepest teams in the league.

Irving/Mills
Simmons/Curry/Thomas
O'Neale/Harris
Durant/Warren
Claxton/Sharpe

2 elite scorers, 2 elite defenders, 2 elite shooters a decent group of role players. They should be able to keep a great group on the floor at all times. If healthy that team is gunning for 60 wins and a top 3 seed..

They have no true center, they have incredibly weak defensive guards unless you play Simmons on the perimeter, but he's likely gonna have to do a lot of small ball 5 because of their deficit there.

If Royce is starting it's likely cause Warren is not who he was after injury.

Harris, again, who knows when or if he comes back this season.

60 wins is absolutely crazy.

Irving and KD will miss at least combined 35 games between the 2 minimum. And the team is not strong enough past those two to be more than .500 or slightly below when both miss games. Which will happen more than their fans will like....assuming they actually show up and play

The only remote chance is if KD and Kyrie each play 70+ games

They've both done that once in the past 6 seasons.

Dennis Schroeder is still a free agent…if we could dump jaxson and graham to make space for Schroeder on a 1-2 year deal how would you guys feel about that? It seems like it would be a good move to me.

Simmons hasn’t played in over a season.

Kyrie and Durant have missed a ton of time the last few seasons.

Harris is coming off a leg injury that caused him to miss most of last season.

That’s $135m in guys who have trouble staying on the court and are supposed to be your stars and your microwave off the bench.

They have some young guys but not who I would think able to carry the load for them compared to the guys they used to have like Caris Lavert and Spencer Dinwiddie who they moved / let walk as part of putting together this Frankenstein’s monster of a foster.

I wouldn’t mind seeing the Nets do well with Kyrie and KD this year just because it would be ridiculous to see 2 guys on winning teams demanding trades.

Not a guy I really want in the locker room.
