Why did the chicken cross the road? Because the Lakers were too cheap to pay market value for it.

My imagination of the conversation:
Kevin Durant: I want a trade to Phoenix or Miami
Sean Marks: Phoenix is offering us crap and we can't trade you to Miami. What about going to Toronto or New Orleans?
Kevin Durant: Naw, I'm not interested in that.
Sean Marks: OK then, I guess you're back with us next season.

Probably not far off from reality.
Durant may be a star and have pull but someone on a 4 year deal can’t easily dictate their landing spot no matter how good they are.

also part of reality...neither durant nor irving are as in-demand as they think they are, due to baggage

It's honestly the most obvious solution from the start.
Call Kyrie's bluff if LAL isn't going to give up anything worth a damn, dare KD to sit out 4 years.
I like BKN's odds, and if Bkn starts winning, what is the excuse Durant has?

I get the Kyrie part. KD I felt was ready to get out. Guess will still have to see how it plays out.

Ahh yes let’s get EJ on a non guaranteed 2 way and keep Temple. That way we waste a roster spot for the entire year and can’t even call up a 2 way player for the playoffs like Jose. We also wouldn’t be able to give 2 more guys a 2 way because Liddell is taking 1.
All because people want to keep Temple? Wtf

Also I think a big problem is that the sort of teams that would have made a godfather offer have already done so or loaded up to win now in the last couple seasons.
A year or two ago you could have imagined a scenario where teams like Denver, the Bulls, Miami, Philly etc. would have forked over those demands to get KD, but they all shot their shot already or made other commitments.

Relax. We could always cut or trade Temple during the season.

I just don’t see the point unless we straight up don’t have someone to trade with yet. Temple will not/ should not play a single minute. Keeping Temple does nothing from a leadership standpoint or talent standpoint at all.
We have hit on so many quality draft picks the last few years why waste a roster spot or 2 way contract to keep a player that’s gone next year and worthless as a player.

He is still a trade chit until the deadline, such as for salary matching purposes.
Once he is no longer useful for that, he can be cut to sign a two way guy to a normal contract.

Antonio Daniels is going to be on FS1 with Cowherd talking NBA Free Agency and Zion in 15 minutes.
Posted on 7/5/22 at 12:26 pm to GOP_Tiger
3/4 of our g league team has a higher probability of making our roster than Temple in 2 years. Temple has a O probability btw. Think about that. Now think about another team signing Seabron or one of our players because we wasted a last spot on Temple for half a season.

He isn’t useful right now and that’s beside the point I just made. Keeping Temple costs us value no matter how y’all want to put it.

This is ultimately the best thing for us as Pels fans tbh.

How I hope it went down:
Kevin Durant: I want to be traded to Phoenix or Miami
Sean Marks: Noted.
Kevin Durant: So...?
Sean Marks: ...I'll see you tomorrow

I would think Marks would show KD the low ball offers and challenge him “This is how little the league values you. Show them how wrong they are.”

Lakers rolling out the same big 3 as last year should absolutely garner another top 10 pick next year. Absolutely a great start to the run of Lakers picks/swaps.
To be honest, I think it's probably the best way to rip the band aid off for the Lakers and just conceding next season with Westbrooks contract being dropped. Somehow trading for Kyrie and losing the rest of their picks would make them better now, but that could also blow up in their face long term with Kyrie's contract and well...Kyrie being Kyrie. You just never know.
