The Chicago Bulls and Lonzo Ball have mutual interest on an offer sheet worth $80 million over four years.
With the New Orleans Pelicans extending an offer sheet to Ball, they would have the opportunity to match the offer sheet.
Ball is coming off his second season with the Pelicans and improved his perimeter shooting and his return to the team has been endorsed by both Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram.
The Boston Celtics have also been mentioned as another team with interest in signing Ball.
Uh, bye bye?

I would match at $20. Anything more and he’s gone.
I think we can trade him later on if needed.

Where are the CAPS??? You are better than this...

We definitely match that. If they really want him, why not go 4/100M?
Also, do the Bulls have 20M in space?

It's based on a report from Jake Fischer where he said 4 years "over $80 million".
It makes more sense for Chicago to work a S&T though. To clear enough cap would probably cost them more in depth than if they did a S&T.

I don’t think so. But they can do a S&T with Markannen

Test drive Lauri for a year and decide if he is worth that next contract.

I hate Klutch and I’m matching that weak shite. That contract will look great once the news TV deal is struck.

It's amazing what the off season does to people memories like paying Lonzo 20+ plus is a easy match hell no.
I'm at the point I just want Zo gone. His play is way to inconsistent to being making 20+ million. Take out the month of February when looking at Zo stats and see if your still willing to match that contract.

I have a silly newbie question: If we match, do we get the exact contract he agreed to with Chi? In other words, is he and are we both locked in for 4 years?

Yes, if they match it’ll be the same deal the Bulls gave him.

Thanks. One more question (for anyone):
What are the options right now? Are these some of them?
1- He signs qualifying offer (does that mean he'd be a UFA this time next year?)
2- He signs the offer with the Bulls and we don't match - he gone?
3- He signs the offer with the bulls and we match. (in which case I guess he's here unless we trade him?)
4 - Any other possibilities?

I'm not a big zo fan, but 20 million isn't bad. That's spot on with what it would be projected as all off-season really. Plus at 20 million, he still has trade value.

Honestly with our newfound flexibility I don’t know why you wouldn’t match it at 20. It seems like you can still go after Lowry (or whoever) and still fit him in, that’s a huge W.

Nah I think it’s the fact that we have way more options than we thought. When we all assumed Bledsoe and Adams would be impossible to move and we only had 30 total to work with, no one wanted that all taken up by Lonzo.
But if you still make the big splash AND bring him back. That’s huge. I mean the dudes very young, getting better, chemistry with Zion. It hits a lot of pluses. And 20M is not some back breaker #. I mean we shite we just paid 17 to Bledsoe and Adam’s for what they did this year.

I would match that if we can’t get Lowry at a fair price.
Posted on 7/31/21 at 8:58 pm to Mad Scientist26
there is competition for Lowry in Dallas and Miami.
the price to get him will be steep
seems like this Chicago thing is mutual with lonzo and klutch so I’d rather keep him at 20 than have him leave for a pick and trade exemption in a S/T. One issue would be we couldn’t trade him to CHI for a year I think. Certainly would rather lonzo at 20 than Lowry
