I don’t really think this is as bad as a trade as some of yall make it out to be. Get your bonafide rim protector who honestly would pair really well with Queen, John Collins had a great season last year and get a young prospect (who was arse tho) on Cody willliams. For a pick 5 years from now, missi who was horrible defensively last season, and broke back Hawkins. Plus you offload Murray who isn’t a part of the future plans anymore

It’s not a bad trade but I get all fans of every team over value their young players.

The obsession with Kessler here is just weird. Ainge overvalues that dude and he’s gonna end up having a David Griffen situation. He’s held onto him for so long and he’s now on the last year of his rookie deal. So whoever trades for him has to give up good players and picks then extend him. He’s not the kind of player to do that and have to pay. Develop Missi, let Murray get healthy (not sure why people don’t think Murray is a good asset), keep your picks. The Jazz have no leverage with Kessler anymore to be honest. Hes not going to be cheap after this year

I have been one of, if not the biggest Kessler supporters but theres not a chance I take that deal because Kessler is due for a new contract at the end of the year. Someone will give him $20-25 mil a year but that can’t be us. If he had a reliable 3 pt shot to go with his rebounding and rim protection that might change things but I’m not giving up both Missi and an unprotected 1st.

Yup. The great thing about him was that he was on a great value contract, that’s all but gone now.

We got Looney now so this dream is over.

This is the dumbest shite I’ve read in awhile.

Imagine paying a subscription to read that 2k trade that heavily favors the Jazz and gives up on Missi. Whom seems to be the hardest working Pel this offseason.

Looney will probably retire in 2 years after this contract. I watched a lot of GS last year and he’s physically basically done.

For sure, Missi was the best of 2024-2025 for the Pels. You know you have to cook the meal before its ready to be served, guess not for some. Missi is high IQ, long, athletic, and plays hard. The intangibles are the basketball skills footwork and shooting, which he has shown promise. Right now, he and Herb are also Pels best defenders.

I wouldn't give any assets for Kessler unless he was on a very team friendly long term contract already. Too risky for a player like him.

I wouldn’t give Missi for Kessler for a number of reasons. Most important being that I think Missi is going to be a really good player.

He’s going to surprise people even more this year. He only played a couple years of basketball and kept improving as each game goes by.

It’s weird that people are looking to upgrade Missi when he showed a lot of promise during his rookie year. Plus, they did just give up a lot to get Queen.

If Missi doesn’t develop, then Queen is right there to take his spot.

The opportunity to upgrade Missi was through the draft and we know now that it was never a real consideration to begin with by the organization. The next best thing to do was to add to the room with a good defensive big who you can slot in games when Missi struggles but will not impede his development by taking away minutes every night.

It would be a great Trade for the Pels! Securing a top 5 rim protector on a rookie contract. Plus getting an expiring John Collins who could be flipped at trade deadline or be effective small ball five. All for an unproven and however, talented big and an overrated poor shooting , shooting guard. All the while ridding yourself of an anchor contract in DJM is a real win for Pels!

You left out the unprotected first.

I'd rather trade Jose/ Herb/ 28' 1st for Allen. You want Looney getting played out of rotation if things are going well. We can also slide Z to the 3.

We could also try some interesting lineups with that squad such as:

Poole
Trey
Zion
Allen
Missi

I want Allen and Gary P and we are set. I don't even care if we keep Hawk or flip his contract for another player. With that lineup Hawk/ Peavy would be our #13/#14.

Guys, I know that some of y'all don't understand anything about basketball, but Yves Missi was not a good player last season. We were 5.5 points per 100 possessions better when he was off the floor than we he was on it.

The stats say we were literally better when Daniel Theis and JRE were at center than when Yves Missi was at center, as much as y'all don't want to admit it.

Now, that shouldn't be taken as a shot at Missi, because he was a rookie, and almost all rookies suck. Missi improved as the season went on, and we can expect him to play better this season.

But will he improve to being a league-average player this season? That's the unknown. If he improves from poor to mediocre, then we are going to struggle to become the playoff team that Dumars clearly expects us to be.

So, Shamit and anyone thinking about this trade isn't "giving up" on Missi. Giving up would be something like dumping him for nothing. Using a player to trade for a better player is not giving up on someone. We didn't "give up" on Josh Hart, or NAW, or Dyson -- we traded them for players we thought would be better.
