Year 5 of the Rebuild/Griff era is ending for the pelicans. Between Ballys and the on-court results, the pelicans have arguably delivered the worst fan experience out of all western conference teams since the 2019-2020 season.

Since Griff took over:

3/15 teams - Warriors, Denver and Lakers (kind of) - have won titles. Could add a fourth this year.

6/15 teams - Warriors, Denver, Lakers, Suns, Clippers, Mavericks - have gone to the WCF. Could add a seventh this year.

11/15 teams have won a playoff series. Only the pelicans, kings, spurs, and blazers have not. The kings lost in game 7 of the first round as a 3 seed to the warriors.

13/15 teams have finished as a 6 seed or higher. Only the Pelicans and Spurs have failed to clear the play-in.

1/15 teams at least has Wemby to show for their abysmal last five years.

The only teams without a season better than our best season over the last 5 seasons are the blazers and spurs. And those teams went the playoffs 8 and 22 straight times respectively before entering the desert with us.

Griff should be fired after tonight’s game.

Well then, that's pretty damning.

Anyone get the survey about the fan experience?

They didn’t have a question about the team’s performance in there so I just put my thoughts on them where I could.

Have to have my opinion on that heard somewhere other than here

I’ve been saying it for some time.
Griff is the first domino that needs to fall after tonight.
He doesn’t need to be in charge of hiring a 3rd coach or not, and he doesn’t need to be involved with deciding BIs future, or our draft assets.

And he certainly doesn’t need to be involved with picking our next center, something he’s failed miserably at in 5 years.

There's no authority figure that will drop the hammer. It's like Dennis Allen getting a pass because they had a winning season.

I have been saying this often as the fire Willie sentiment grew louder . Willie is not perfect but it’s an organizational issue. Going with a 4th coach in 6 years is unlikely to make any substantive change.

The head of the snake cares about peace , hope, and love . NOT competing at a championship caliber level .

You could have Jerry West as gm and it wouldn't matter because of Zion BS.

All of the teams you name didn't have there franchise player being hurt literally every season he has been in the league.

It's amazing the pass some of y'all give Zion, after the way last season ended for him it was ridiculous the shaped he showed up in to start the season. How can you contend for championship when your best player doesn't even care enough to stay in shape when he has been hurt is whole career. Zion has been in the league five years and has played in one fricking play in game.

Zion has been a problem that’s clear. People are giving him a pass this year only. People were brutal about him before this year. The change is that it seems he’s more engaged and he was playing at an All-NBA level before this minor injury. Of course the injury came at the worst possible time but that’s not really his fault. Zion seriously should be held accountable for the last five years but that doesn’t shield others from blame.

You are discounting the role that Griff has played in the Zion situation. From forcing him to sit an extra month his rookie year, then the STUPID bursts that had no medical basis, to the whole "bubble" situation, to the out right lying to his fan base on media day 2021 about Z's foot, to the absolute stupidity of not building this team around Zion, to the fact that the organization chose to go with BI as the centerpiece over the last two years, Griff has mismanaged the whole situation and made it much, much worse.

I get the reason why you'd say BI is the centerpiece, you had a commitment and buy in from him. You never got that from zion until this year.

So are you implying just to blow this up? Because honestly Zion is the little hope we have left of this team being even close to at some point a contending team. If you get rid of him, we’re basically starting over.

I haven’t given him any pass. His inability to dedicate himself to conditioning is the biggest reason we have been among the worst western conference teams over the last five years.

But Griff has misfired tremendously.
He took the best laker pick and turned into Jaxson Hayes and NAW.

He brought in a host of mediocre veterans designed to make us competitive in the form of Derrick favors, JJ Reddick, Steven Adams, Eric Bledsoe, Daniel Graham and often used draft picks to acquire and dispose these guys.

He traded Jrue for assets that might help the subsequent rebuild.

His single biggest move since the AD trade was to acquire CJ, which is simply an odd choice to form a big three with Zion and Ingram.

In 5 years, griff’s only real offseason or in season success was drafting Trey/herb/Alvarado in a single draft.

Damn, I thought I was hurt/mad/sad/angry, but you have a complete different lens. Good stats and perspective.

Griff made his money by lucking out and having LeBron be on his Cleveland team during his prime. I don't know how he can be deemed successful other than that.
