At this point, it's seems like they're going to want an ex player with coaching experience as the first option and then a young player's coach second.

Adrian Wojnarowski
@wojespn
In search for a replacement, Pelicans are expected to circle back among some candidates from a year ago, including assistants Jacque Vaughn and Ime Udoka (Brooklyn), Charles Lee (Milwaukee) and Jason Kidd (Lakers), sources tell ESPN.
How about someone not in their 60s? Someone the players wont hate shouldnt be too much to ask.

I think Stan did well in the player development and I’ll stand by that. He got Zion in great positions, Hayes and NAW got significantly better as well. Y’all need to be careful because we could and we might do much worse
I don't think NAW or Jax's development had anything to do with SVG. As far as Zion goes, anyone that has paid attention to basketball in the past decade knew Zion should be running point. I give no credit to SVG for any of this. The only thing I give SVG credit for, is completely fricking up the rotations early on in the season. Like benching Zion for about 6 minutes during the 4th quarter

Don’t care about his politics. I care that he brought his politics into his coaching. Don’t care if the next coach is a communist as long as they stay off Twitter and focus on basketball. I’d be all for making Teresa Weatherspoon as the coach and it looks like it’s a real possibility.

According to Kush, he wasn't well liked in the org top to bottom and barely spoke to ownership.

Literally should be the number 1 criteria

Yeah it is certainly scary. But Zion hating SVG was scarier. And this firing does add ammo to that rumor
Zion didn't hate Stan. He tolerated him. BI hated Stan.

Kenny Atkinson please! I know he doesnt have an incredible coaching record but the Nets gave him nothing to work with. He improved the team every year he was there.

Isn't Spoon's specialty player development? I think she makes more sense as lead assistant than HC with so much riding on this off-season.
Kidd is unlikeable, a terrible human, and even more clueless as a coach than Stan. He would be an absolute disaster and expedite the end of the Zion era in New Orleans.

Kidd might be better, Stan was clueless and unlikable towards the players. If you’re an unlikable douchey coach, you have to at least have some reputation of a great XandOs guy or something

Would love to give Terry Stotts a shot as an assistant
Made the playoffs 8 years in a row and hopefully can help us reel in Lillard

Im just happy Griff had the balls to fire him after a season. Even if the hire was shitty in the first place
The timing of trying to hire a coach last season was completely fricked.

Wonder which recycled NBA coach they will go after next.

Don't see him as an option. Issues with star players won't help his cause.

But the first reports of promoting Weatherspoon are disturbing
Exactly. And with our track record, people need to take this seriously

Who cares?
I’m interested as to what one of the top players in the league sees in a candidate vs what tigerdroppings message board guy sees
Seems to be two drastic opinions

Kidd might unlikeable for you but he's well respected amongst the NBA circle and that includes the players.

This is huge. Now don't frick it up again griffin

You can’t blame him for all the faults and give him no credit for the growth. Look at how the Bucks struggle to get Giannis involved in anything other than iso and compare that to the ways we got Zion the ball even with no shooters around him.
As far as Hayes, he specifically mentioned his benching as a wake up call to take good defensive role seriously.

Griffin has to know that this hire is EVERYTHING to him.
If it doesn't work, he's done.
