I think Griff himself was 100% ok with Stan still being the HC.

That’s not what I got. Near the end when he was digging deeper into “philosophical differences” he said there was a disconnect in how to move forward. My reading between the lines is Griff told Stan “The players aren’t responding, how are you going to reach them?” and Stan said he was going to keep doing the same thing and the players would come around.

Safer bet that Griff is pissed that he has to admit he made a mistake

Money shot.

Between the SVG hire, taking Bledsoe and what ever the hell the Adams debacle was, last off-season was an unmitigated disaster

Luckily, we're still in the game

didn’t the FO have issues with SVG not playing any of the young guys for 60% of the season until he finally caved and started playing them. I’m sure there was a bit of drama involved with that

This is pure speculation, but based on some rumblings over the course of the season but:

I think SVG talked a big game about what he learned in his time away and how he was going to change...

...and then was the same ole Stan, master of panic, stuck in his ways, refusing to play young players.

And Griffin soured on him throughout the season.

The same can be said with Hernangomez and Gabriel as well.

taking Bledsoe

Nobody could have seen Bledsoe and Reddick performance driving completely off a cliff..

Before the season many people here were saying that Bledsoe could give you 90% of what Jrue could, but that he just sucks in the playoffs

The bigger issue seemed to be that SVG rode with Bledsoe for so long that he pissed off the FO and other players who had to watch him drive the tank

Would have been ok if he was an expiring. But he had over 2 years left on his contract at quite big salary

Should have just taken Hill to maintain as much roster flexibility as possible

Oh and not extending Adams 1 second after trading for him

did we extend adams to reduce his cap hit last year, or just sheer stupidity?

So happy he is gone.

We can win even with Bled and Adams, just bring them off the bench and not start them and give Bled the most minutes out of anyone!

Don't want to pay that much for bench players who do not change the game significantly.

I definitely fall into this camp. I thought Jrue to Bledsoe was a minor step down but with the picks it was highway robbery. I still like the trade but Bledsoe looked worse than I could have imagined. I don't know what happened to Reddick. I don't know if I've ever seen a player fall so hard off a cliff. Irrelevant now but we'd be having a much different conversation if those two played like they did just one year prior. I wasn't the biggest fan off the Adams trade just because I didn't like giving up Hampton. I thought he had some high upside. I didn't care about his high contract because it was only for one season. I never saw the upside of resigning him without seeing how he meshed though.

well we know now that Reddick demanded a trade in the offseason and Griff was foolish enough to ask him to come back and play a few games with us to see how it goes..

That's like you telling your boss you're quitting to take another job and he asks you to "give him a month to see if things improve"... What kind of production do you really expect out of that guy?

Sources: Pelicans assistant Fred Vinson will get serious consideration for franchise's head coaching job. Since 2010, Vinson's worked under Monty Williams, Alvin Gentry and Stan Van Gundy, building a strong body of work within organization.
We'll see.

But Griffin didn't seem all that interested in promoting an assistant during the presser.

You'd think the players would like this though.

Wonder how being a HC would affect his individual time with players.

I don’t see why you’d move someone who is so good with precise player development to a more hands off manager role.

Just keep paying him more and more as an assistant until he decides it’s either a head-coaching gig or he’s moving on.

I believe Vinson did start having some more responsibilities this season, but he's largely been pigeonholed in player development his entire career. There's no way he'd get legit consideration for head coach.

Griff made it seem like the Weatherspoon rumors were all a creation of social media suggesting Vinson is too, but I think it's just as likely a rumor leak to throw a bone to an assistant that you want to keep around. "Stick with us and you'll be a head coach before too long."

still feels like the vinson and spoon leaks are being done to show zion they are listening to him. Don't think it'll go much further. The Vinson leak also has a risk of him leaving if he doesn't get the job, so I'd be careful. IF teams think you are considering making a shooting coach your HC watch them throw a boatload of money at him to be their shooting coach
