And we’re all glad as hell that Favors is off the team. Adams is clearly better.

I would like someone to actually prove this statistically.

This really feels like a grass is greener situation.

Favors had both a better defensive rim percentage over his years before coming to Nola and better rebounding numbers.

I’d argue from the eye test Adams does a few other things better like set screens, offers a bit better versatility, but that isn’t worth 27 million.

Would I choose him over Favors, absolutely. Would I want to be giving up a first, a very valuable vet guard, and the future cap space needed to resign him? No

pelicans were too soft, too quiet, too loose and too accepting of losing.
it has been that way since Davis was drafted.

Eric Bledsoe is a dick
Steven Adams is a dick
SVG is a dick
Corey Brewer is a dick

To win in the NBA you need to be able to swing your dick around on the court and make the opponent uncomfortable. The pels could not do that before and now they can. Redick fits right in now with this mindset in a way he did not before

How long have we been saying the team needed to man up?
that won’t be a problem now

Here is the trade

New Orleans got Steven Adams, Eric Bledsoe, 3 1's, 2 pick swaps for jrue holiday, Darius millers contract and a heavily protected DEN 1st. George Hill was never here.

Now if they can snag another wing and a stopgap ball handler they’ll be complete for the coming season. Until zion goes supernova this a work in progress

I asked last night for someone to sell him as a true long term fit without magical thinking involved and have yet to see an answer to that.

I see him as more of a medium term piece while Jaxon grows. A lot depends on what his value is on his next contract. If he's getting another 4/$100 he's not a long term fit, and we shouldn't be afraid to cut our losses and move on, see Asik. But if traditional center value has declined enough that he's closer to $10-$12 a year, I think you can easily afford him while Jaxon is on his rookie deal. And I think Jaxon will grow a lot while playing against him every day in practice considering that Jax' biggest weakness is being raw and out muscled.

I said last year that I'd take less for Jrue if it meant competing for the playoffs instead of trading Jrue just for future assets and becoming a team who's season is over by the All Star break every year. There's value in veteran leadership, there's value in winning, and there's value in playing with a crazy, tough son of a bitch who has played with elite players that is going to get in your face and push you.

Could Aron Baynes have given you a lot of that for less? On paper quite possibly, but I have to think Stan was consulted on this and he's a much better judge of that than we would be.

I also disagree with your general premise that we NEED a stretch 5 to be good offensively. Would it help sure, but shooting 3s isn't the only way to create space. So Adams not being a stretch 5 doesn't bother me like it bothers you.

It’s like saying how badly the Lakers got ripped off in the AD trade while they hold up a championship trophy.

It’s not always about winning the trade. The Pelicans got A LOT better today.

Adams will create spacing with his picks and box outs. And he will defend the rim and rebound

Thank you Bronc! You can’t be critical of anything Grif does sometimes. He basically replaced Bledsoe for Jrue and Favors for Steven Adams (which are washes by the way) and netted a couple of first round draft picks (which are probably going to be late 1st depending on what Greek does in a few days). Yes Griff gets credit for getting those draft picks but you can’t tell me we are a better team with replacing Holiday and Favors with Bledsoe and Adams. We still have the same problems as we did before we the lack of shooters and floor spacing. Also, we’re speaking as if players are lining up to come here when they haven’t.

Adams is clearly worth the DEN pick.
The vet guard was never a pelican
you have no idea what the future holds as far as cap space and/or Adams’ next contract

You really don’t understand the purpose of the trade they just made, do you?

Pels can make this team and use the MLE (hard capping themselves) but if they use the BAE, they start to get very close to the tax line and hard cap.

Choices basically are: Use MLE and minimum contracts to fill out roster or use equivalent of tax payer MLE and avoid hard cap

There’s no denying that. Also Adam’s will make 27 million this year, Favors under ten.

There's no denying that. Also, Favors has 3 years left on his deal, Adams 1.

See, I can play this game too

One thing I hate about the NBA game is the soft picks.

Adams doesn’t play like that.

Why? Because you say so? You gonna disregard how Kira and NAW is going to cut into his playing time if he struggles? If we have to rely on Lonzo to make the playoffs, we got bigger problems don’t we?

Adams is more vocal than Favors. You won’t be seeing Favors jump on the floor for loose balls or mix it up with the opponent. We need a guy like that. Also Hayes and Adams is gonna scrim a lot to where Hayes will get stronger from it.

Yeah it's clear that they're trying to bring in vocal veteran leaders. I don't think you'll hear any talk of this being "the quietest team ever".
