After the game, Van Gundy brought up Dick Bennett, the longtime Wisconsin-Green Bay coach who in the ‘80s and ‘90s built the school into a mid-major power. Bennett spent 10 seasons there. In nine of them, the Phoenix averaged fewer turnovers than their opponents.

“My brother had gone to one of his practices,” Van Gundy said. “He asked him, ‘What do you you guys work on to cut the turnovers?’ He said, ‘It’s the simplest thing in the world. Don’t play the guys who turn it over.’ I don’t want to get to that. Because some of those guys, we need. And some of those guys have to create shots. But we can’t have everybody out on the floor turning the ball over. We need some guys in our starting lineup, especially, who will take care of the ball.”

So who is going to the bench? Lonzo for JJ or Hart makes the most sense I guess.

Give NAW more minutes. Let’s see what we really have. Give him the minutes to grow. If we walk away with NAW and Zion out of that draft, that’s a win. Hayes hurts my eyes.

Here's an unrelated but on topic tweet from Mason that says Dinwiddie should be one of our trade targets and Lonzo should be one of our trade "assets".

I took a look at the relationship between drives and turnovers last season, specifically for players who put the ball on the floor a lot (minimum 150 dribbles per 36 minutes):

Bring Bledsoe off the bench and jj in the starting lineup.

1. Simplify the ball handlers. Let jj or Ingram run it.
2. Allows more spacing early on.
3. Allows Bledsoe minutes without needing to share the ball and allowing him into a rhythm
4. Gives naw someone else who can help him run that unit

NAW is averaging the same amount of turnovers per 100 possessions as Lonzo at 4.2. Their play has to drive SVG nuts

Let’s see more Bledsoe and sprinkle in some Kira

First things first, we need to see what we have with Kira.
If he flashes potential to be a solid player, then you have a better idea of what you need to get with a Lonzo trade, and he absolutely needs to be traded. In an ideal world, we can get a true 3/small ball 4.

I like the idea of Bledsoe and NAW running the second unit with BI out.

At this point, I think its fair to say Lonzo is not part of your future at any cost >=13mil

Over 72 games:
32.3 MPG
40.2/36.5/57.0 (11.4/6.4/1.2 attempts per game)
11.9 PPG
5.9 RPG
6.6 APG
3.0 TOV
1.4 SPG
0.6 BPG

102 ORTG, 110 DRTG
-0.3 OBPM, 0.4 DBPM, 0.1 BPM
12.6 PER, 0.053 WS/48, VORP 1.2

May be a nod to JJ as well as Zo. Neither have been strong with the ball and shots aren’t falling. We win 3 games with PROFESSIONAL ball handling even if shots aren’t falling.

Zo needs to go to Charlotte so his brother can show him how to play basketball.

JJ to Nets
Rozier to Boston (TPE)
Zo and 1st rounders from Boston and Nets to Charlotte
Dinwiddie and PJ Washington to Pels

Everyone benefits

Yeah, but NAW is actually going to go somewhere with the ball. Plus, I think that we can still hope for NAW to get better at reducing turnovers. Does anyone still have much hope for Lonzo to improve his drives and playmaking?

Dinwiddie is the type of player we need

High basketball iq. Protects the ball. Makes the right pass
Sounds cliche but he will make those around him better.

Where is lester earl now?
Was shitting on van vleet before the season and look at him. Think he called him a role player

Dinwiddie is the same type of player. Id trade for him in a sec

i meant bledsoe..not the best option, but at this point the closest thing we have to a true PG is Kira/NAW and neither one is getting the nod.

Can we also count the bricks from the 3 pt range Lonzo shots on a regular basis as turnovers?!?! Because he takes and misses a lot of them.

Kira getting work with the starters in recent practice. Hopefully Stan has had enough of the turnovers to start the rook.

The only way to really be in the runnning for a Beal type player in a trade is if Kira shows star potential. He can't do that from the bench.

We need to keep Kira if he shows potential.

The team doesn’t need to cash in yet. Also the team should have two NBA All-Stars this year imo.

We are in the stage where we should be looking for the third guy and filling out the roster. We are in a great place to do that and have sustained success. We should not be desperate.

Stan should be able to change up the rotation and improve this team with chemistry. The shooting should be coming around.

Yes and no. On the one hand, BI and Zion will both be even better next year, and it's likely that NAW/Hayes/Lewis will be worth more, so there's certainly no rush to make the superstar deal this year.

On the other hand, those opportunities don't come around that often, and Griffin has to be ready if a deal can be made. BI and Zion are already at the all-star level, and them + Beal makes us instant contenders.
