Yearly #s for Herb...starting with 2021-2022...

3-pt% 33.7%...33.5%...42.9%
eFG% 52.5%...52.5%...60.9%
TS% 57.3%...56.7%...64.6%

And another VERY important # to Herb's development...
0-3'% (at the rim) 68.5%...66.0%...73.3%

I KNEW...he was gonna become a solid offensive player eventually...but this season has been...well...just crazy, so far.

Some more numbers. This comp is per 36 minutes to make it apples to apples. Both have pretty comparable eFG%

Player A: 13.9 ppg 4.5 rpg 3 apg 1.6 spg 1.0 bpg
Player B: 14.7 ppg 4.4 rpg 2.3 apg 1.2 spg 0.5 bpg

Player A is Herb this season with a 60.9% eFG%
Player B is Mikal Bridges his last full year in Phoenix in 2021-2022 with a 60.1% eFG%

Herb has become, and if he keeps this up, surpassed the person many were willing to trade Herb for to upgrade Herb into Bridges. Herb done upgraded himself.

Your absurd man crush on a second round pick from Alabama is one of the most prescient things I’ve ever read on this website.

True...but it seems to me his MAJOR improvement has been made during this current season. (Offensively, of course, since his defense has been VERY solid even at Bama)

Not sure why he pretty much stood still in his 2nd year in the NBA but it's obvious some kinda light switched on this season. Never know...he might revert back to 33% from 3 next year & lose his new-found ability to finish aggressively at the rim...but I doubt it. "Confidence"... is a funny thing in basketball...especially for someone who has never had much of it...offensively speaking.

I remember loving the herb jones draft pick when it happened. I thought he could be a defensive wing that you could throw out there for 12 minutes a game. He’s now one of the best 3&D wings in the league and probably the best non rookie contract in the league.

Herbert is the absolute antithesis of the current NBA showboat player.

I fully expect that he went bank fishing during the NBA all star weekend, after working out in the gym.

Herb is the most important player on this team and I'm tired of pretending like he's not.

All he does is play d and bop 3s upside these fools heads.

I've messaged chicken several times to change this board to Herb Talk dink, but he keeps saying it would attract the wrong crowd. Not sure why.

To expound on this more I was curious about totallity of both careers. Herb has managed to enter the same ballpark as Mikal.

So the question now bears; can Herb climb even higher into All-Star space with slightly more volume and slightly better rebounding?

Another stat we thought we'd never see:

quote:

Will Guillory @WillGuillory

Since Jan. 1, the player who leads the NBA in 3-point percentage is... Herb Jones.

The guy who once ran away from open shots has evolved into one of the premier two-way role players in the NBA.

His motto remains true.

“I always say the work never lies"

I disagree. If you watched him at bama he did most of the same things. His shot is really what improved

Easy way to solve this...we rename it to Not On Herb Talk!

you realize he was the SEC player of the year his senior season at Alabama. That's not too shabby.

I'm gonna assume that is a compliment...and I admit I was a bit over the top on Herb when I first arrived here. OK...waaay over the top !!

But I looked back & am probably most proud of this one particular post...on 08/16/2021...that read...

"Whatever you guys think about Herb right now...we're all gonna luv him in a coupla years, and wonder how in the world he didn't go earlier, in the 1st round. Hide & watch, it'll happen..."
