I know some people want to trade the 4th pick. I don't think that's the right call at all. I don't know much about Culver or the dude from Vandy, so tell me why they should get picked over Hunter

Let's go full rebuild. No half measures like trading the 4 pick for a young vet like Beal or something. Just go young and struggle through the growing pains

As far as who we should take, from what I've seen and read Hunter is a no brainer. He's the best all around SF in the draft after Barrett. Shot 44% from three, and is a legit wing defender.

I know he's a little redundant with Ingram on the roster, but he's the BPA unless Morant or Barrett falls to 4. Agree or disagree?

We should draft him at 6 or 7 instead after someone gives us a future protected to move back

No guarantee he'll be there. I think he's the safest out of Hunter, Garland and Culver.

The case against Hunter is he’s really limited offensively. He comes from damn near the slowest pace in ncaa to a team who will want to run in the nba. His handle isn’t what it needs to be, and in a ncaa tournament game, UVA had him on the bench.

Given our current team structure, we need scoring, not more guys whose strengths are defense.

That would be the case against Hunter.

4-8/9 all have equal chances to hit. Trade back, get another draft asset and take whoever falls.

Ingram could easily play the 4 in lineups with hunter while Zion's plays the draymond small ball 5. Hell Hunter himself has played the 4

Lineups of lonzo(or true)/hart/hunter/Ingram/Zion could be pretty damn exciting n spurts

If the Pels don't like Garland or feel they don't need him because Griffin likes Lonzo, they should be trying to move down a few spots and pick up another future pick.

Garland has a higher ceiling, build for the future, not today.

Let Garland play behind Jrue and Ball for a couple seasons as the 3rd guard and then let him start afterwards if he’s developed. You can draft role players in future drafts when your picks probably won’t be as high, don’t try to draft a role player at 4, take a chance there.

Of the mix of players around 4-8, I prefer Hunter. But I will say that if Cleveland indicates they won't take him then maybe you do a swap with them to pick up an asset.

I've been going back and forth on whether or not I want Hunter. Here is a video scouting report on Hunter by a Lakers fan. It's really cool and actually spends a lot more time talking about his weaknesses than showing his good highlights, so it's probably a good video for you to watch.

What I love about Hunter: High floor, can contribute early because he's great at defense, great at threes, and is smart. There's also the chance that the UVA slow-pace hid his offensive potential, and he might be able to break out. If we really want someone to just space the floor and lock people down, then we should pick him.

Bonus point: He dominated Culver in the national championship game and hit a clutch three to send the game to overtime. 27 points on 8-16 after starting 0-7. 9 rebounds. Culver scored 15 points.

Don't like: I don't think he has the aggression or "it-factor" to become a great scorer. There's a segment of the video I linked where it talks about how he doesn't go after rebounds, and that's something I noticed watching a lot of UVA games. It seemed like Hunter should have been out there taking over games, but he would randomly disappear for large chunks of games. Even when he scores, it just seems calm and relaxing.

I'm afraid that in a few years we'd regret not grabbing someone like Garland who could end up as a superstar on offense to pair with Zion.

Interesting take.

One of my questions about RJ (having watched just a few Duke games last year) is how did he perform when Zion was out?

Did defenses favor one of the two, making the other’s job that much easier on offense?

Are they the legit 1 and 3 prospects in the draft or is one’s value inflated compliments of playing alongside the other?

I’m not implying anything, and haven’t a clue about the answer.

Not at all. He could be a crunch time 5 corner three shooter in a small ball lineup.

He just doesn’t have any upside.

He’s not super athletic/dynamic.

He’d be a solid PF if he was 6’10 with his type of game but he’s 6’7. That’s Klay Thompson size.

His shot was pretty good but you can tell he’d just practiced that range, I don’t think he has NBA 3 range. He’s a total midrange guy. An extremely poor mans Kawhi. Or a short Lamarcus Aldridge.

I just don’t see a top 5 talent

I need to watch more of Hunter. I saw him at the Final Four but wasn’t incredibly impressed.

Right now I’m:
1- Garland
2- Culver

6'8 with a 7'3 wingspan. Versatile offensively and defensively. NBA body and a national champion. Ive also heard comparisons to Kawhi Leonard. Hunter will fit perfectly in Gentry's system. He's the safest of the 3 of Garland, Culver and Hunter. Culver and Hunter also suffered injuries in college.
