Little less, but yea. The numbers going around today are crazy, and a lot are gross overpays, but comparing them to yesterday's numbers based on yesterday's cap is just a worthless exercise that means absolutely nothing.
As was stated in the MSB thread, GM LeBron looks like a fricking genius. Overpaying everyone on the old cap means that everyone is at market/underpaid in the new cap.

I'll reserve judgment until like December

Eventually these contracts will level out in 5 years,
No they'll all rise and no one will blink because that'll be normal. When stars are making 25-30 mil 12 for Hill will look standard.

if Ryno and EG both walk...
and it ever comes to light that FOR SURE we were demanding Fournier in addition to Tobias Harris in the 3-Way deal with Detroit and Orlando....
I'll completely just lose it.
BUT had we done that, we don't have Buddy today.
Buddy+Solomon+Not done? or Tobias+Denzel Valentine? i dunno.
This FA signing is a result of us gambling on our chances in the lottery, rather than maximizing the return that outgoing assets could have yielded at the time.
This whole year will be about Buddy. All the eggs are in his basket.
God Bless us. I Believe.

And the pacers declined this guys 2 million dollar option? WTF is going on here....
Posted on 7/1/16 at 4:02 pm to SuperSoakher
Options are declined early in the year.
Hill took off in the playoffs and was shooting an insane % of 3s.

You guys are all (well most of you) smart. You know about small sample size. Are you really going to talk yourselves into him based on one series?
I really wanted to find a way to get back into the first and draft Prince because we need a bigger 3 and D SF even if it's just someone time sharing with QPon based on the matchup. I don't know if Hill is going to be any good, but I do know we need a bigger 3 and D wing, and the most likely way we're going to get one is to find and develop one. It does seem crazy that someone like Hill got that much money, but this is a crazy offseason. What are we supposed to do, wait until next year to sign and start developing a potential 3 and D prospect?

I wish I could be excited, but man; this is not the guy.
You aren't supposed to be excited, this is Aminu to the Blazers. I said at the time he might finally put it together in year 4 of that deal, he surprised us all by having a career year last year. All we can do is hope for the best. I don't know if there was a better player to take this risk with, but this was the kind of risk the team needed to take.

He led the Pacers in minutes as a 23 year old when Paul George was hurt. His first real taste in the league and held his own. It's not like the past playoffs were his first taste of NBA action.
A consistent role on a growing team will suit him well.

Small sample size. Terrible contract. frick this

Crewz, may I ask you an honest question?
I have been following you for years and the majority of the time I either agree with your opinions or the very least see where you're coming from but I have to know if this was YOUR guy? Would you be excited. It seems, to me, and maybe I'm misinterpreting, that you have a preconceived notion of what the team should do. If they don't do it then it's a failure of an off-season.
I know your initial reaction is to belittle the decisions made as a journalist but it's ok to be a hopeful fan too and see what the positives are and could be

Jesus Christ guys. I was simply stating a meaningless stat comparing salaries.
There was literally nothing meant by it.
mozgov signed a 4 year deal making more than Kareem's career earnings factoring inflation.
Means nothing.

When Evan Turner is getting $18m a season from the Blazers, what we paid is the new normal.
Posted on 7/1/16 at 4:07 pm to teke184
4 PPG gets you 12 mil a year. If I can average 2 PPG can I get 6 mil a year from the pels? frick it, im cool with just 3

With Hill, Q, Dante, and Buddy guys who arent shot creators moving Evans is making less sense.

Agree with this.
Hill isn't going to be an all star or even close to it, but I think we're bringing him in to be the glue that holds it together. Worth more than the sum of their parts kinda deal.
If he can play solid D and improve his 3 point shot, then we can make a big improvement. It won't be because Hill is lighting it up. It will be because our roster is just way more functional and sensical then it has been the last 2 seasons.

Convince Doc Rivers that you are his kid and you'll get more than that.

Lol if you think Ppg means a frick
The guy was playing behind a top 10 player in the league

Lets put this in perspective... the Pacers didn't pick up their club option for him at $2.3m, but the pels want to pay him $13m/yr. brilliant.
