I was listening to Donnie Walsh talk about the Pacers the other day talk about the Pacers and how their philosophy was to get "big". I kind of like the idea of a big, deep frontcourt. And someone who can defend the perimeter and score when needed

This. The successful teams in the league today either have Lebron/Durant or big physical frontcourts. Can you imagine a front court of AD and Cousins/Len. Matchup nightmares for other teams. So unless we plan on landing the next Lebron then its logical to build big.

I've only watched Len through highlights, but nothing about his game seemed physical. He seemed more skilled than physical to me.

he's not a banger but neither was ''the dream''. thats why I'm thinking veteran big and allow len to get stronger.

I honestly don't get the hate for Shabazz...he can score, and we all know we need someone that can score.

He had a mediocre season in lots of aspects, was a poor teammate, is older than he originally let on, and really isn't as athletic as everyone thought.

Could be a good scorer though.

Why does that matter at all? I gurantee you his parents started that.

It isn't like he made a media sensation about it ala Te'o

He was impressive in speed and agility drills at the combine, no?

He's built for the NBA game. Even a guy like Westbroook wasn't great in Ben Howlands slow paced offense.

Shabazz has the size, speed, strength and length. He can score, rebound, and is relentless on D. I think he ends up as a top 5 player out of this draft

I'm just saying while he's fallen. Just a very below expectations season.

I haven't really watched him that much.

Dont know about that. The league is becoming a small ball league.

Indy and Memphis (perhaps SAS) are the only successful teams w/ big, physical, traditional frontcourts.

Doesnt mean going big cant work, just that finding big guys who can do all the things they have to do in the modern game (defend pnr out to the 3, hit jumpers for spacing, pass out of double teams, etc) is difficult.

Because he became a #1 prospect by playing against kids 3 years younger than him. Is Danny Almandola (sp?) a #1 starter in MLB yet?

No, Danny Amendola is now a WR with the Patriots.

Danny Almonte is an assistant high school baseball coach per wiki.

Yeah, that's the guy. "Misremembered" name or not, the point stands. There is a reason why almost every sports league for teenagers have age brackets. If anyone played Legion ball in Baton Rouge, you may remember a certain "Post" team in D league that had quite a bit of facial hair. It's easy to be good when you're going against kids.

And Gyno is already latching onto the missed name like it's some kind of boom

What does playing in AAU have to do with anything? College ball is comprised of 18-22 year olds. Its all about going forward now. Shabazz is the same age as Burke, Bennett, Oladipo, mcclemore, zeller, goebert, Larkin.

And the name thing is funny bc you suck at pretending on knowing what you're talking about.
