Basketball Insiders Article - # 8 overall picks

Not seeing a whole lot of names on there I recognize, but I'm not someone who follows the NBA as much as some.

Anybody on there we would be glad to get a similar performing player?

TJ Ford was actually pretty good but I seem to remember him having a back or neck injury that fricked him up good.

And I see a number of 8s have played for us like Jax, Aminu, Wilcox, etc.

Dang. I just saw Robert Parish was on the list. I would take a modern day Robert Parish for sure.

The nba draft is the biggest crapshoot of them all. Most are bums.

I’d say this pick is 70% getting moved.

For what? We need a vet shooter but then you have to deal with salary? I’d rather pick whoever the best shooter available is and save the cap space.

In the past 10 years alone:
Franz Wagner
Obi Toppin
Collin Sexton
KCP
Terrence Ross

5 pretty good role players if you ask me.

It's a pretty good spot to get a pretty good role player. In addition to the guys already mentioned:

Channing Frye, Rudy Gay, Jamaal Crawford, Andre Miller, Larry Hughes, Brian Grant, Vin Baker, Kerry Kittles, Ron Harper, Detlef Schrempf, Rex Chapman

Hayes, Temple and 8 for Dort, Kenrich, 12 and 30

Sell all 2nds to get ready to start paying that tax bill

Would rather stay at 8 and take Mathurin though

8/10 starters in the Easter conference finals were drafted below 8.

I'd say there's a less than 10% chance we trade the pick, unless it's to move up in this draft.

That's not really an option this year.

It’s beetleheaded to only look at the 8th pick, you have to look at any player chosen 8th or lower, because those were all potentially the 8th pick. Just looking at the 8th pick doesn’t really give you any information.

KCP type player would fit wonderfully on this team.

It’s really not difficult tbh

Teams make it more difficult than it should be by constantly drafting projects over guys that can actually play basketball.

Watch film and interview and it’s easy.

Just don’t pick a dumb frick that can barely talk, has zero basketball iq and doesn’t play winning basketball.

If you do that, your pick will hit 80% of the time.

But if you draft like the Sac Kings, you are right. It’s a crapshoot.
