I can see the Pels wanting Barnes.

I’d prefer them not add any long term salary at this point

I am an all or nothing person. I don't do anything in my life casually. Example. We went from one location to NINE in one year. When I did Pelicans stuff, I wrote more articles than anyone. Answered more questions than anyone. Podcasts, etc.

I can't/don't do things casually. So that is why you will see/hear a bunch from me in the next week and then I will go away again. It's my personality. Having figured out how to fix it

I agree, but I get why they might want to land a real player in the trade market, even if it reduces their chance to land someone in the summer. I mean, what should make them think they can land a Jimmy Butler or any other guy like that when big markets, contenders, Lebron, etc will be trying to get them?

Didn't know Barnes has a $25M PO next season

Yeah I think I'm out on that. He's good, but not 25M good

Love yogi Farrell.
What would the Barnes trade look like though?
Also have they had talks about Carroll and dinwiddie

There just seems to be so many guys available next year, and I guess they have to hope that Next Level AD and Playoff Jrue are real things that take this team to another level.

I think they probably won’t get a star in FA but it feels like the last and best hope to get AD to stay.

At worst, they stay flexible if an opportunity presents itself.

PT is an emotional bunch these days. Similar to when the board went crazy at the beginning of the season. Don't let a few idiots run you off MM.

It's the catch 22. The only guys we might have a shot at bringing in are the guys who are good, but are overpaid.

Julius Randle was something of a stroke of luck. We'll see how him being on a team that plans on being good next season will work out. Same for Payton.

So, list all the guys and then really looking at the odds of each one instead of seeing them as a group.

I don't see one guy who I would even list as 20%. Not a guy that is better than Harrison Barnes at least.

No Chance

Klay, KD, Kyrie, Kawhi, restricted studs

Very, very small chance

Butler - I think he is going with Kyrie or Lebron
Kemba

Am I missing anybody better than Harrison Barnes?

I don't mind being told I am wrong. Or even that I am dumb. Arrogant, etc. Thats fine.

A fraud? That I can't do. That should be off limits

I think that's why I'd be willing to do the OKC route with Kemba or Barnes. Get a guy here for a year and then you have a much better chance at locking him up.

Granted neither is as good as PG13, but I agree that it's tough to see getting much better in FA.

Is Middleton SO MUCH better than Barnes that you would say no to a 100% chance at Barnes for a 20% chance at Middleton?

I am some Barnes lover. But I know the coaching staff thinks he would be a tremendous fit, and I will trust them on that

This is a mostly unmoderated site. You're going to get people calling you many things. Ignore them. Or tell them to frick themselves.

Anyway.

See I'm not a Barnes guy. He's an above average player but not that much better than that. And his contract is absurd.

That being said he would be a good fit.

I clearly misunderstood what you were saying.
I just saw who is in the same conversation as Barnes.

When you say that we have a good chance of getting Barnes, is that via a trade or signing him as a FA in 19/20?
Both as FA’s in 19/20 seem as attainable as each other.
Who is better is a coin toss.
Barnes wins because of Gentry.

Personally I’d be more than happy with either.

Who wouldn’t?

I guess the idea of having a 6'8" SF who can actually play is too good to pass up, even if he is overpaid.

I wonder what we offer them? I'm assuming Moore is involved. I guess you need Solo to make the salaries work or send him to a third team. And you're probably sending out your first if Solo goes out. Or does it end up costing you Niko instead?

Barnes’ best season came his last year in Golden State when Gentry was on staff. Would be a good fit. He would essentially be an expiring because I’m sure he’d opt out. We’d old his bird rights via trade so then it becomes a situation where you potentially lose Randle because of lack of rights and cap space next offseason.
