Skip Bayless dishes on Zion on Undisputed this morning

Skip Bayless just said that he's been told that Zion's stepfather is holding him out because they are unhappy with the clause that allows Pelicans to weigh Zion (to make certain weight requirements).

Honestly Skip might have got that from Jen.

At this point I would not doubt it, even coming from Skip. The Zion story makes no sense to me and the man should be on the court.

no one should ever start a thread, or respond to a post and use skip bayless as their source of information.
If you do, your thread should be deleted.
His show isn't about sports, just like Judge Joe Brown isn't about law.
Nothing he says should ever be taken seriously, much less anything close to factual.

Do you dispute his claim?

yes, this claim makes total and 10000% sense.
zion is healed but also expectantly fat as hell. pelicans aren't budging on their physical requirements. Zion ate a cake out of sadness. "doesn't feel like himself" is code for i'm pouty and fat.

They knew about the clause before they signed the contract, now that he’s overweight it’s a problem? Look in the mirror Williamson family you’re failing yourselves

He was right and the Pels have the right to do it as in the contract Zion signed. Sorry you have to honor your commitments, part of being an adult. Zion is still a kid. He needs to tell his stepfather to take a step back and control his own life.

I don't care what his claim is. His claim, like every thing he says, was made regardless of it was true or not, but simply b/c he knew it would garner a ton of clicks/views.
and he probably came up with this claim the same way anyone else would, by simply understanding the situation and reading the tea leaves.
We all know what Zion said yesterday was a bunch of horse shite. If the team is saying he's medically cleared to play, but he can't, then it's easy to deduce that he's fat and out of shape, b/c we all know that's part of his contract.

Jen is the cohost of Undisputed.
Skip could very well have real info.

If Zion has been seeing the team doctors at any regularity, wouldn't they know his weight already? Plus, the weight clause only impacts his guaranteed money if he is waived. The agreement was the team will periodically check his weight and BMI to make sure they are combined to be less than 295. If its higher, his regular pay stays the same while he's on the team, but his guaranteed money gets reduced which only matters if he is waived.
This doesn't necessarily mean he has to meet that 295 number to be able to play.

Right. What Skip is saying makes no sense whatsoever.

Jen Hale very credible source. Friend of Gayle Benson & Dennis.

It's not quite what he said.
He said that the pelicans staff has cleared him, but his own medical team says he is only around 90%.
He said the stepfather is unhappy about the weight clause and the fact the pelicans are enforcing it.
So basically Zion will not go until his team clears him.
Said it is very similar to the Kwahi and Uncle Dennis situation.
Where the team says you can play and the player and family says not yet.

Didn't someone else basically say this exact same thing the other day?

Skip often forgets his own name

Right, OP didn't give a full explanation to what was said. IMO, there is some truth here. Skip also said the players aren't happy with Z either because they feel.he is getting bad advice and should be playing.
Which if true, explains that 2 game meltdown we had where everyone, in the game thread and on boards, commented about how the players seemed flat and demoralized.
Personally, if the rumors are true, the situation is quickly approaching untenable. You can't have your main guy sitting out games when the team says you can play. That will quickly torpedo moral and inevitably end up in a split (see Spurs and Kawhi).

If Luka does does for some unbelievable reason become available. I think the best situation for both Dallas and New Orleans is to do a swap. Oddly enough, Zion LOVES Dallas for at least one specific reason.
