I think the Magic resigned Carter as well.

Not only did they extend him, but they signed it too late for him to be traded at the deadline. I didn’t word it well originally, but what I was trying to say is that ORL extending everyone either prevents a trade (Carter) or makes the player much less desirable with so much more future money owed (Isaac)

KAT for Ingram feels lateral when they're on the court.

KAT has value. He’s one of the better shooting big men. Can play next to Zion. His contract is horrible though.

I thought it would be about the best we could do for BI to at least get something. Griff dropped the ball again if he didn’t push for this. Seemed like a good trade for both teams.

I don't really want KAT, but I said it last year that we should have just swapped BI for KAT, and their salaries matched up at that time. If they truly wanted to build around Zion, then that's a move that shoudl have been made since KAT is the best shooting 5 in the league.
Defensively is a bigger issue if you have KAT and Zion as your 4 and 5, but having Murray/Herb helps that a good bit b/c protecting the rim starts on the perimeter and schemes.

Kat is having a monster year.
that’s because he’s surrounded by some great players with an all star point guard. He’s. a good Robin though

I mean if we were healthy a front court of Zion and Kat would be amazing offensively

To go along with Herb, Trey and DJM. That’s fun, spacious, and big.

Acquiring KAT for just BI was the best you were gonna get.

My plan...tank and somehow luck out & get 1st pick. Then...find some team that thinks Flagg is the "2nd coming of Larry Bird" (there's ALWAYS somebody that believes that).

Trade that 1st pick to that "We're getting Bird" team for their young, VERY good 6'7" wing player AND let them also give us their #6 (or so) pick in the upcoming draft. Then...make sure that with that #6 pick...we get the guy who, 3 years from now...everybody thinks shoulda been the #1 pick in the upcoming draft...instead of "Larry Bird". That's my plan...and I'm sticking to it.

Yeah, cause that is so easy to do. Trading down from #1 is a HUGE risk so that 6'7" wing has to be big time.

Yeah...obviously...I'm a desperate man...with a desperate plan. The Hornets are currently around #6 in projected draft position and I luv Brandon Miller...so I'm swingin' for the fence...& would luv to end up minus "Larry Bird" at the #1 pick...but plus Miller and still have that #6 (or so) pick. A long shot, for sure...& I might even throw in a bit more to get the Hornets to go along with it...hopefully, they think Flagg is the next Larry Bird (which I, obviously DON'T)...THAT'S the key

Yeah, I don't think that would happen. They would really have to love Flagg to give up Miller and #6.

I think the NBA would step in if the Pelicans got the 1st pick and redo the lottery behind closed doors.

I hope the Wizards get pick one. Would be nice to see DC good again.

Pelicans have wasted too much talent to be allowed to ruin Flagg like they did Zion.

You may not have a choice. This is turning into a hard reset. Herb has a lot less value to us on that new timeline. Hell, Herb may have no interest in hanging around with 2 of his best friends traded away

I feel like the pels can do much better for cj than Carter from the magic.

Cj is a winning player on a good team.

Stop doing this to yourselves. Stop trying to find unicorns to fit next to that lazy arse clown. We've wasted 6 years on that crook.

One of these is not like the other. You’d better find a damned good reason to trade Herb Jones. You don’t trade championship caliber role players on good contracts. Wonder where the Warriors would be if they traded Draymond. Our “superstar” sits and our heart and soul guy comes back and all of a sudden we’re playing actual competitive basketball again.

I personally am stoked to watch Herb, Missi, and TM3 develop this year while our two mentally soft, out-of-touch stars sit on the bench doing nothing. I can be excited with going to the arena and hoping those guys get a big win at home. I at least know they won’t waste my time for going out there if they have anything to say about it.

This is nothing against CJ, he still has a skillset that any team would want. The issue is his salary. Teams that want to contend don’t really have the matching salary for him. The teams that do, don’t really want to contend. The new cap rules make moving him even tougher.

If CJ is moved, the return for him is not going to match the level of player he is.

I’d encourage anyone to go dig through other teams cap sheets, or just play around for 20 minutes on the trade machine. It makes you realize there is a good chance that we just don’t find a trade that makes sense for us this deadline

This is true, every single trade I can come up with ends a 1 on 1 with Detroit, anything else I come up with always seems to have to have Utah looped in to make sense for both teams.

I know. Some type of Hardaway and Stewart for CJ could make sense for both teams on the floor. The problem is that DET loses their pick if it falls outside top 13 this year and top 11 next year. They have no reason to improve.

Likewise, Utah’s own pick is owed to OKC, protected for selections 1-10 in 2025 and 1-8 in 2026 (if not conveyed by 2026, then obligation extinguished). They also have no reason to do anything that makes them better this year or next

If there’s a third team, Zion to Memphis, New York, or Minnesota. Nola can’t eat that contract, therefore take 5 draft picks for 15 years later.

Passing on "Larry Bird"... I don't even know where to start with this... your logic is remarkably flawed.

1. Have you ever seen Flagg play? Yes he is white and his last name has one syllable but other than that his game is nothing like Larry Bird

2. If he was "Larry Bird" or a hall of fame talent you don't trade that for anything. Brandon Miller is a nice talent but he's not in the same tier as flagg as a prospect

Apparently...I did a lousy job of trying to come up with a wonderful trade for the Pelicans by saying there MIGHT be a team out there that was silly enough to think that Flagg COULD be the "next Larry Bird".

I think you missed my point...
