There’s bad defense
Then there terrible defense
Then there’s embarrassing defense
And then there’s Bradley Beal

I think they'll try to ask for Jaxson Hayes in the trade and I wouldnt want to part with his potential.
Whatever his peak is, it's 99.9% not going to be Bradley Beal level good.

I would like someone who fits the Zion timeline a little better.

People on this board really, really underrate Beal. He's damn good. Borderline elite.

He can play defense if he wanted to. If he were on this team, he wouldn’t be carrying the team offensively the way he has to in Washington which would allow him to play some actual defense. We just need him to pick his spots and step up when it’s time to close games. Beal would be a huge acquisition if they aren’t required to give up a core piece.

The people saying this, do you guys not realize that no one ever questioned his defense to this degree when they were winning?

Also, I'll take Beal trying on defense any day over Lillard.

Beal was a good defender his first few years in the league, and if you ever watched them in the playoffs, you'd know he's no where near a bad defender.

I think his defense has been lacking recently b/c his team sucks, not b/c he's a bad defender. Bring him over here and he would without a doubt be at worst, an average defender.

I agree

And overall, I'm not saying we HAVE to get Beal, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to add him to our core.

Like with most things, there's a risk/reward to it, and honestly, it's an unknown and not something the org can research or find out or anything, some part of it is a crap shoot.

We can get Beal, and over the next few seasons realize we could have used those same assets on 2 or 3 different occasions on better players/fits for the team.

We can not add Beal with the idea to wait until something better comes along, and that something better never comes along or we can't finish a deal for that better guy in the next 3-5 years. And like I said, we largely have no idea what's going to happen either way.

There's not a right or a wrong to either one but because of those reasons, I tend to side with getting the guy you like when he's there and not waiting, but that's my personal preference only.

Always seemed like a bad idea to give up a king's ransom for a borderline great player, then bring him here and sit him down in Zion's shadow

It all depends on the price. If you overpay you'll go out of your way to make it work out, if you pay a fair price then you can cut your losses if it doesn't work and trade Beal later and recoup most of your cost.

If the cost was something like Jax/NAW and pick(s) I'd definitely be interested. Lonzo/Beal/Jrue/Ingram/Zion seems a bit undersized, but look at Houston. Morey and D'Antoni have both played major roles in changing direction of the league before. Maybe adding Beal to a Super Small Ball core while keeping Lonzo and Jrue wouldn't be a crazy move but a genius move. It could make the Pels the perfect team for the next evolution of the NBA just like the Warriors were the perfect team for the Pace and Space revolution.

I'm not a Jrue fan to a certain degree, I think that is fairly well known. I think Beal is a much better player. I'd trade Jrue for him in a heartbeat.

The problem is it would take MUCH more than Jrue to get Beal.

Sounds like a great idea to bring in a borderline great player and play him alongside Zion.

Yeah the only way this can work is if we get a third team involved.

Personally, I’m not seeing the fit if Zion and Ingram are you’re 1,2 scoring options.

At the moment, Zion isn't a guy you are or need to run your offense through. Zion's game has maturing to do both offensively and defensively. The best part about Zion is that he can effect the game and enforce his will in so many ways without running the offense through him. By the time Zion reaches the peak of his powers, Beal would be on the backside of his prime. Beal and Ingram can shoulder the offensive load while Zion temporarily becomes the best 3rd option in the league. If we do trade for Beal, this probably signifies the end of Jrue as a Pel. There is no way you can resign Jrue to a long extension, pay Beal, and whatever we are about to pay Ingram and Ball.

It makes much more sense to boost our role players then mess with the core.

Ingram
Zion
Holiday
Ball

Would be fine with Jrue, NAW/Hayes, and a pick or two. I doubt the Wizards would take that, though.
