When is the last time a lineup has differentiated between SG and PG?

When we plan to possibly have 2 players on the trade block that we don't want to piss off and a new PG that is 100% starting at PG.

Y'all really need to start looking at the optics of the BI/ CJ situation and start making sense of the other things.

The last thing we need right now is reporters asking questions about who's moving where. Now they can just say "oh wow Herb's at center wonder how that will work" and leave us the frick alone.

Going to be impossible to defend on offense in a 5 out system. So we'll try to run bigs off the floor.

Bingo !!...I'd bet this plan has been in the works for quite a while. Just didn't have the right personnel to pull it off. Now...MAYBE?...we do.

"5 Out"... might not be the perfect description of our offense since Zion will be one of the 5...but I think that most folks here understand how Zion would be the perfect "fit" in our "4 out & a monster named Zion" offense.

The key of course...is getting maximum value out of Herb on the defensive end...while also developing his game on offense to the point that he is a very solid threat from the 3-pt line. If you haven't noticed...he has already reached that point...on C&S 3s.

Good move Pels. Best 5 on the floor, the first subs will bring in size (TM3 and Theis). Small ball puts the onus on coaches and players to successfully hunt mismatches. This is where DJ can provide his best value to the team. At the same time, bold move to start off small (Harden Rockets) rather than a token big (Looney Warriors). Kerr said he's worried about wearing down Draymond but Pels are a lot younger. I think they'll run a lot, hopefully, it's off steals and boards rather than out of the net.

Lol you think those questions are going to stop if we list Herb as a center?

Not with Zion in the game. Dude didn't run the floor one time in that preseason game, except that one time he stole the ball and decided to lay it up over Jalen Suggs instead of easily dunking it.

Pet peeve of mine are players not in condition. Pels and Zion have obviously chosen to have him in peak condition in April/May, letting him play his way into peak condition. We’ve seen Zion leak out instead of attacking the defensive board, not efficient in small ball, there will be a premium for defensive boards.

Pels brought in DJ to push their pace. That’s his job along with making good decisions. Wouldn’t be a bad idea until Husky is in better condition to have him trail on the offense and be primary in Pels secondary offense.

With all due respect to Gregg Popovich...our "crew" has already replaced "Not on Herb" with..."The Plague"...as a nickname for the Herbster.

"The Plague" would make for a wonderful t-shirt.

Can you tell me one time that you remember Zion grabbing a rebound and pushing the pace taking it coast to coast like Lebron does, or Giannis, or Westbrook, or Fox, or Harden. That was literally the only thing Ben Simmons was good at basketball at.
There's only 1 other person in the NBA with the same weight or more as Zion (actually 2 as Nurkic is bigger so they say), and he pushes the pace off his top 5 in the league rebounding all the time. That's Jokic.

Zion always walks it up the court with the ball, or lolly gags behind the ball.

and it would be a good poitn to say he's the trailing guy that you can hit after trying to get a quick 3, and that woudl be legit if it was somethign he did some of the time, or even most of the time, but he does it all the time and it's b/c he's out of shape.

Zion is just as unstoppable as Lebron and Giannis when he has that head of steam, but we hardly ever see it.

5 of his 8 rebounds in 19 minutes were defensive, so seems like an odd game to complain about. Guess it would not be basketball season without the complaining though.

How many of those 5 did he try to push the pace with?

The raw number is not relevant to the discussion you quoted. What he did with the rebond after is...

In the preseason I don't need him doing that. Wait for the reg season.

well i wasn't complaining about getting rebounds now was I?

Answer my question. Do you remember Zion grabbing a rebound and taking off down the court like you see Lebron and Giannis do all the time?

Google it.
Zion coast to coast.
Let me know if you find one highlight of him getting a rebound and going coast to coast.
There's 2 videos of him getting an inbound pass and going coast to coast to beat the buzzer. unstoppable.

You know where you can find a highlight of him grabbing a rebound and going coast to coast? When he was at Duke.

I think our best 5 is Murray, Herb, BI, Trey, Zion.

I don't know how you can expect Herb to help in the post if you've got CJ "defending" on the perimeter. CJ needs to be the 6th man.

There's small and then there's too small. I think we'll find out quickly that too small isn't going to work. Willy's rotation adjustments have been the shining light of his career so far though

I don't mind at all getting the best 5 on the floor, but there obviously has to be some matchup specificity.

And he'd destroy Val, Theis, Nance, and any other scrub big we threw at him. Might as well try to outscore him.

You seem to be caught up with style and flair. You complained that he laid a ball in instead of dunking it. 2 points is 2 points.

There’s a reason no team does this. We will get annihilated by every center. It’s not just Jokic. Every rebound Derrick Lively gets is an extra shot for Luka. You can’t win like that. JJ and Edey? Good luck playing a Sabonis or a Sengun with a size advantage. If this is really our plan, it will be the last season many of these individuals will be involved with the team. It’s a plan we know will not work before it starts.
