His skill isn't rare at all.

legit rim protection is pretty rare

the past 2 DPOYs were rare rim protectors (and neither played at the same level of asik over both years)

Go read about his poison pill in his contract. They back loaded it, but were allowed to prorate it and take an average hit per year on the cap.

Look man I love Ryno but this is not true. Asik is one of the only centers in the NBA that can handle Dwight. We need him.

I'm sort of onboard with this. I hate the idea of losing Anderson, but we really need a tough, defensive center next to AD. Whithey ain't it at this stage.

Order those championship plaques, Tom.

what "building" moves do you expect with little cap room, other than exchanging solidified pieces?

He is a solid defender, but you are greatly overrating a guy with sub par block numbers.

You are pushing for a major trade. Other similar proposals can occur. Derp

rybot does not bring a rare skill to the table. rybot's skill is also pretty replaceable from our current roster.

Meh. Not exactly. Ryno is one of 7 guys in NBA history to shoot over 38% on over 6 3PA/G in multiple times. Some of the other guys are Allen, Peja, Lewis

Lopez had good block numbers. Did you consider him a good defender?

I didn't take that huge leap in logic.

in 2011:

quote:

Of all the players in the league to defend at least 200 plays last season, Synergy rated him first. The Bulls gave up 7.6 points per 100 possessions less with him on the court,

the stats from last year were posted and were similar (i think the ppg difference was in the high 6s)

rybot is a 40% 3-point shooter. the gap between that rate and the rates of holiday/gordon isn't that great (especially if our offensive efficiency bumps holiday's 3PT rate, b/c his system last year was shite)

like gyno said, guys like dorrell wright and martell webster are always available in free agency

Omer Asik is now the most overrated player in the league. Never thought those words would ever be uttered.

I think one important thing people are forgetting in this argument is that ryno and AD could not be on the court at the same time last year. And AD is the franchise, not ryno.

Pretty neutral on this trade. Both guys will provide vital skills for this team. If we had more firepower on this team then I'd be all over it but it's kind of worrisome to think we won't have any great 3 point shooters if he goes and only 2 guys on the roster who make them with decent success. It's highly unlikely we ever get a center as good as or better than Asik, though, especially for defensive purposes.
