it ain't that stan is too hard. its that stan sucks as a coach.
the more I think about it, imagine being BI or Zion... Game on the line, time for one shot.. Stan draws up a play to get someone a double-contested fadeaway jumper
then goes in front of the cameras and says the players blew it
or shite... imagine being Zion and putting the team on your back every night, and the last shot ALWAYS goes to someone else

Or the players fumbles the ball, turns it over, over dribbling, and iso into the teeth of the double team. As bad as SVG can be, these players are just as bad during crunch time.

quote:facts! Seems to me people forget these guys were making complete bone headed decisions game after game that they are only to have the blame for. Also only 3 guys on this roster have even played a playoff game yet the youngins wanna complain about SVG coaching them too hard. I get major KAT and DLo vibes from them if that’s the case. Guys who put up big numbers but will never be major contributers to anything significant because they don’t want to be pushed or give it their all.

Look at Thibs, dude has a reputation of over working and challenging his players. He got a bad rep for it because losers like KAT didn’t like it and eventually got fired for it. Now he’s on the knicks with a team who likes the challenge and embraces his philosophies and now they’re in the playoffs as a 4 seed.
In short, this locker room needs a complete exorcism and competitive cleansing

i love some of the revisionist history going on in this thread. let's be honest, most of y'all were on board for the SVG hire and pumped it up. Now you're seeing what a colossal failure it was always going to be and are insisting you originally thought it was not going to work out.
if this franchise manages to squander the 3rd star player we have lucked into in a row I don't see how any rational person could continue to support this dumpster fire.

That guy actually has to become available and until Washington decides to accept their fate with Beal, that guy isn't our there.
But he's just not available, and won't be.

1) I'll take any rumors with a grain of salt. There's a lot of big market money that will create any division they can to pry Zion away. Not saying that's not the case here, but still. More times than not, there's always motivation behind unnamed sources.
2) That said, if we don't make the playoffs next season I won't be renewing my season tickets. And I bet there are quite a few people in the same boat. It'll be Zion's third year by that point - time for the organization to shite or get off the pot.

The only Pels trade deadline rumor that didn't seem tied to Klutch or Lonzo was the Pels' interest in BOTH Brogdon and Sabonis. That would be a pretty big change. S&T Lonzo to the Clippers for Kennard/Rondo and you'd have a very different team.
Brogdon/Rondo
NAW/Kennard
Ingram/Naji
Zion/??
Sabonis/Jaxson
I'd be slightly concerned about Rondo, at this point would he give the effort he needs if he's not on a contender? But that solves a lot of the team's current problems on paper.

This is the time for Griff to realize SVG doesn’t fit with a young team and rectify the mistake but he will double down instead.
Posted on 5/20/21 at 4:12 pm to Fun Bunch
I hope it's not because our dumb arse players think Lonzo is a lead guard.

There's no way Griffin can go to ownership and admit that he's messed up the coaching situation twice in the 2 years he's been here. Now he wants a 3rd coach in his third year here? Nah.
He's basically signing his own pink slip at that point, because any owner is gonna start asking why he's so bad at this.

I agree with your overall point that firing Stan is the last thing he wants to do, but how did he mess the coaching up twice? He reportedly got the job because he was willing to give Gentry a chance. Gayle's the one that wanted to keep Gentry.
Posted on 5/20/21 at 4:24 pm to TigerinATL
Yeah Gentry buttered Gayle up enough to milk another year as hc here
Posted on 5/20/21 at 4:26 pm to eyeran
Yeah, I don't think Griffin gets any blame for Gentry. Keeping him a year "saved" Gayle money, I guess.
But firing a coach you hired to a 4 year year deal 1 season in after firing a coach she loved would not be a vote of confidence in Griffin.
Regardless, its a bill he and she have to swallow.

And this is precisely why, no matter where the pick ends up, I believe it will be traded.

Sunk cost fallacy. It’s minuscule compared to losing Zion

If Gayle doesn't want to pay SVG's full salary for the 4 or 5 years he's signed for for 1 year of work, there isn't much Griff can do.
Posted on 5/20/21 at 4:37 pm to Chad504boy
Yeah honestly, if they want to do things right, the ownership group should sit down with Zion and his family and ask what steps we can take to make him happy. If that’s getting rid of SVG and/or Griff, then “let’s dance.” SVG’s and Griff’s are essentially a dime a dozen. There is only 1 Zion.
Unfortunately, our ownership group is used to the way the NFL works and not the NBA, so I doubt they give Z and his family that much power, but here’s hoping they at least give him a seat at the grownups table and a voice.

What did he say wrong? I’m I missing something?? The league thrives better when the major markets are good..
When you have players saying stuff like this, then really everything is a sunken cost, sure once every few years you might get a small market championship, but mostly, you're building for the large markets, because all these fricking players only want to go to 3 places anyway.
