I’m not going to speak for shel, but this is patently absurd.
there are ever present ills in this world that hurt, kill, enslave, bind and butcher innocent people every day of every year that has ever been or ever will be. Attending an NBA game will neither inflame nor extinguish any of them

It’s literally the most absurd thing I’ve ever see.

Lou Williams: “if you’re watching a game you aren’t a protest”

How could this be any stupider?

There will literally always be something to protest. There will always be injustice. Always.

So basically they should never play again.

evidently...

I’m so sick of the “you’re killing grandma” narrative.
nobody is killing grandma, the virus is killing grandma. And grandma therefore needs to stay the frick home. My wife has an autoimmune disease and she won’t get within 10 feet of a stranger, and I don’t blame her. Everyone else though should be able to move about the cabin without being compared to dr mengele

Based on your post count I get the keen sense you are one of those posters that treat TD like a full time job
When you're mentally ill equipped to make a solid point in return of anything I've said, you go to post count.

Such a bad look, you're basically admitting you're not smart enough to have this discussion with me when you point to post count.

quote:

Which is why you seem incapable of addressing what I actually say instead of the simple narrative you wish to apply.
Funny since I've responded to what you've said with facts, and you got nothing for them.

Remember when you said FunBunch was pulling stats out of his arse, then you found out they came from the CDC? Yea, but I'm incapable of a rational conversation.

quote:

but you reached for what black people decided to do as your example of moral failing.
And your response to that question promptly boxed yourself in on your own argument, so that's why I went there. I knew you couldn't talk your way around and out of that one, and I was 100% correct, you absolutely couldn't, so you didn't.

quote:

You made a claim about death rates and I asked for a source
Or you actually said the #s were pulled out of someone's arse or something to that effect because you thought they were a lie, but you still have yet to admit you were wrong on that. Go ahead, just concede you were wrong, it's ok.

quote:

So what did you do? You made it about flattening the curve
Ah yes, when you claimed the curve was never flattened, then proved against your own point that I was flattened, and about 5 posts later from me, you've yet to tackle that one or admit you were wrong about it as well.

quote:

Then tried to apply state hospitalization rates that are climbing to answer for city hot spots that are seeing major spikes. With no real reconciliation either.
For the 3rd time, you AGAIN ignored it the other 2 times, I addressed that, you responded to a post of mine where I addressed it claiming I didn't. You are, yet again, wrong here.

quote:

You can keep typing random stuff
You can keep being wrong and not admitting it, since you've made it clear that is what you're going to do with every post you make.

quote:

your desire for black people to shut up and dribble in packed arenas as cases continue to climb, but making a convincing argument you have not.

Speaking of typing random stuff, there ya go.

My hope is you can go back and read through this thread and come back, man up, and realize how foolish you've made yourself look and how wrong you've been and continue to ignore how wrong you've been.

It's not exactly a secret or breaking news to say that celebrities generally have a self inflated sense of their worth, and that shows here.

Lou Will says if they're playing hoops, people will stop caring about racism because a game is on. You dudes are important, but let's take it down a notch here.

I don't know if they have some idea that from here on out people have to be focused on the cause 24/7, and there's literally nothing else they can do or think of for even 1 minute or else they're not down for the cause, but it's pretty wild.

One can be down for the cause choosing whatever platform they want to express that and also decide to take a couple of hours at night time to watch a fricking basketball game. The 2 aren't mutually exclusive.

That was a rally cry for nearly 3 months, and mostly the same folks using that rally cry for 3 months now support protesting by the 1000s.

You can't have both, it simply doesn't work that way.

You can't scream "what about Grandma" while simultaneously supporting 1000s of people gathering together to protest. You simply can't. You have to choose 1 or the other, or what you're saying is just worthless.

And for the record, if you choose Grandma is more important and we shouldn't be in teh streets by the 1000s, that doesn't make you any less devoted to the cause than they who are taking to the streets. That's another point missed in all of this.

This was addressed and pointed out to you that the CDC numbers do not yet truly incorporate excess deaths not yet properly attributed to Covid, nursing homes, or a significant number of at home deaths. That work will take years and inevetibably push the death rate up higher. That is the point you moved the goal posts on, and continue to do so. Because as you accuse me of, you don’t have an answer, because you are just pulling shite out your arse as you go.

Elaborate? Since I’m not seeing how saying people not adhering to recommended protocol is condemnable no matter the activity is “boxing myself in.” Sounds more like an attempt at gaslighting on your part. And still no explanation for why you are so focused on making this about black people? Or since you are all for abandoning these recommendations, I guess you have been in the street protesting? Or as I suspect you are just trying to find ways to attack protestors and black people because at your core you are against their concerns and want to find ways to get other to pile on?

quote:

Ah yes, when you claimed the curve was never flattened, then proved against your own point that I was flattened, and about 5 posts later from me, you've yet to tackle that one or admit you were wrong about it as well.

Define flattened? Becuase I dont think you even understand what flattening the curve is. It’s a process meant to, amongst other things, to prevent runaway and uncontrollable infections and allow healthcare systems and governments to put in place enough capacity and testing/tracing to minimize spread, no, we as a country have not flattened the curve everywhere. And many states, like Florida, failed to meet those benchmarks so their dip is now merely a valley before a peak. Which will require another flattening to get under control.

The CDC that you seem to love to quote is very specific on this. A flattened curve PLUS 14 days of a sustained drop in cases PLUS a robust testing and tracing system.

Basically no state meets that but many never even met a single one of those and we are seeing what the consequence of that is becoming for many of them. 14 states with record high hospitalization rates since this pandemic started and many cities to the point of initiating or considering initiating emergency protocols that haven’t had to up to this point.

quote:

Ah yes, when you claimed the curve was never flattened, then proved against your own point that I was flattened, and about 5 posts later from me, you've yet to tackle that one or admit you were wrong about it as well.

You presented state data and made assertions that don’t account for the recent capacity issues or the context that state data has little bearing on the capacity of cities individually.

Copy and pasting a sentence from a Covid blog you Googled 5 minutes after reading my post isn’t addressing that.

You can continue gaslighting this conversation but you haven’t really presented anything of much coherency so far and while you seem too have all the time in the world, you’re wasting mine at this point.

That’s the problem with all of this. It’s all talk in absolutes.

If you think one way you’re a racist, a bigot, or something else entirely but if you think another way you’re some other negative thing. It’s tiresome.

Freethinking no longer has a place in our society which is the pure definition of fascism and socialism.

I stopped caring about coronavirus when Fauci took a two week hiatus in the middle of a pandemic. That told me all I needed to know about this virus.

Actually he’s right. COVID got here probably in November/December and it’s believed took a handful of lives before it was known it was here. And then you have people who die from various other ailments (cancer) but had contracted COVID during treatment so the COVID killed them but the death certificate will say cancer.

I work at a hospital and I know this has happened.

Man this would fricking suck. I'm almost done paying off my season tickets and this is the first time I've ever bought season tickets to anything. NBA better not move along without fans.

Yeah if you think social media runs your life and your 14. If you're an adult that's just stupid.
