Crazy. Never thought it would actually happen. Wonder what we are giving up. Don't think the money works as mentioned.

Has anyone ever heard of bilateral projections?

Houston and Toronto did something similar in the Kyle Lowry deal where Toronto only gave up the pick if it was a lottery pick.

Weird protection. But I'll take it.

Asik is a perfect fit next to AD and Ryno. We just got a lot better. Still have to fill that 3 spot, but we will.

I didn't expect us to do this just because it helps Houston so much.

6.8 points a game as a back-up. He'll score about 10 ppg on dunks, put-backs, and free throws.

And he's not a scorer. He's a defensive workhorse rim protecting rebounding machine.

Pelicans fans will love him... I guarantee it.

If that ESPN report is correct on the pick protection Demps did work. If Pels stay healthy they could easily get that pick back for maybe getting some value for Gordon (unless he has a resurgence) next year. Especially if we can resign Asik after this year. Oh and some cash to burn for boss man Benson. Thank you Lebron and Melo!

kind of surprising the rockets would give us such a nice deal, surely they could have found a similar deal and kept him out of the division. But hey whatever

So the MLE will allow us to sign a SF even if we still have Asik and pretty much keep everyone currently under contract?

That's what Michael McNamara is implying, and he has a pretty good understanding of the salary cap. I was under the impression that you can either use your cap space or the MLE, not both. I guess you can use the cap space to absorb deals, just not to actually sign FAs.

I know..for a draft pick I would assume they could have done this with other teams.

I guess they just don't really care because in the end all they really want is Lebron OR Melo.

WOW. Dealer Dell at it again. Is the pick protected or not? Seems like we don't have an answer yet.

The draft pick included in the deal has protections. It will go to the Rockets if it falls into a range between the late lottery and the 20th pick, sources said.

Works for me

Weird protection. Most likely outcome for the pick is between late lottery and 20th pick.
