But still that's a no brainer of a trade. Y'all need shooters and didn't need Aijinca. Nice deal.

Who do we want to get from the Hawks

I'd hold on to Johnson for awhile and see what's out there unless Hill just sucks out the gate and then you make a move.
I mean...we know what kind of players both guys are at this point, and they both suck.

Hill/Diallo/Johnson works for Bazemore/Dedmon I think
It works, Pels can trade Hill/Diallo/Johnson for 25 mil in returning salaries.
ETA: if you use Ajinca instead of Johnson you are short 300k

Not sure why?
Baze has a 19M player option next season.
Won't be able to add FA next season or re-sign Randle if needed.
Is it worth the risk?
Does he improve the team by that much?

I think us wanting him is a strong word.
Its more like we know its an attainable player that CAN help us this year (which, let's face it, this year is the only one that matters, there is no tomorrow).
It does end FA for us next year but if we don't win this year then FA is very much a moot point.

To be fair...Wes Johnson can't shoot all that well either.

Agreed, but someone like Barnes in Feb will help more than Baze in October/December.

Yes, that is the balance. Try to get a player to win now or wait for a bigger trade for later in the year that could help more.
Both ways is a gamble.
I'm for waiting.

Do you go with the 100% B- right now, or the 15% chance at an A- in February?
Give me the B-, but I can see arguments for both.

We were never going to be in that discussion anyway.
We won't even have the money to keep Randle if he wants more than like $10M, or whatever it is.
Is trading away tons of assests for a half year of Barnes, and then resigning him to some near max deal better than 2 years of Bazemore, or 1 year of Bazemore and then looking to trade his expiring for someone better next year?
Hell i don't even think Barnes is that much better a player than Bazemore, and some idiot team is going to give Barnes $30M/yr, and it better not be us. He isn't good enough to be that 3rd player we need with Jrue/AD. He's good, just not $30M/yr good.
Trading for Barnes, or Middleton, or Butler, means your expecting him to resign with us, which i'd say isn't a good possibility given how much cap space is out there. I'd also rather 2 years of $18M/yr Bazemore than 5 years of $30M/yr Barnes. We still have options to get better with Bazemore's contract, while still being a good team. Once you sign someone like Barnes, the team is set for a long time.

For Jrue/Moore/Randle or Niko/AD lineups, where there's plenty enough offense to go around, it seems like he'd be an OK fit.

Looking at #s because I've only really watched him when he was with the Lakers and that was like 4 years ago.
Can contribute roughly 20MPG. So not a bad bench option if we're going with Hill as the starter to fill him with better offensive players. Ideally hill gets sent off for a Gatorade bottle.
Career: 33.7% 3pt shooter
Best year: 36.9 on 3.4 attempts
In recent years, he's been a net positive on the defensive end. 3 years straight of 1.8, 1.6, and 2.3 DBPM.
On the flip side, negative on the offensive end. -1.3, -3.4, and -2.0
On/Off, the Clippers were better defensively with him on than with him off all 3 years.
Still resulting in 2 of the 3 years as a net positive player.
