It 100% points to Cousins wanting the guy

We had it come out that Boogie was recruiting players. Is there any doubt that Rondo was one of them?

what does it tell you that a person whose primary offensive scoring skill is getting to the rim, is only doing so enough to get fouled once per game?!

come on man! open your eyes. your post corroborates my post.

Rondo absolutely cannot play in the last 2 minutes of close games. It is what it is.

OH NO! we'll have to bench a guy in the last 2 minutes sometimes. Good thing he's only here on a 1 year deal worth next to nothing.

I'm not calling it a slam dunk move or anything, but I think the positives outweigh the negatives. I'd prefer Rondo on a cheap 1 year deal over RJ here on an expensive deal.

i get that.

like i said, vet minimum or bust on rondo. probably for me still no, but i could see how one could be talked into it.

neeeeed shooters.

also, for those thinking rondo is the rondo of old on defense and keep pointing to the sacramento year... that year he had one of the worst defensive ratings in the league for starting point guards. 107. one point better than james harden. slightly above lillard. who is known to be atrocious.

Did I say anything else otherwise?

I was simply stating a fact. Moore will be closing out games next to Jrue.

At SAC he was 12 / 5 / 12. That's pretty good for a PG. Why does it matter how many FTs he's shooting if he averages 12 assists per game. He's not DeAndre Jordan-ish going 6 of 10 or worse.

Also allows us to not have Jrue handle the ball. When he is relied upon to handle the ball he is atrocious.

Plus Cousins and I'm assuming AD loves him.

Cheap. Won't kill you contact wise in future. Won't require a pick to be traded. Has potential and experience. Good rapport with our stars.

This is a positive in my book. Doesn't work, well ok. But if Jackson or Lin types don't work we are in a worse spot.

i'm with you on everything except your continued listing of these counting stats.

does he make the team better? i don't care how many assists he collects.
does he make it easier for our team to run. will he not dominate the ball and dribble around in circles? does he create space for our bigs to operate? can he knock down open 3s?

can he defend the other teams.. anyone?

can he stay on the floor in crunch time?

in short, why make any move that doesn't help the pels get to the playoffs. you're talking about spending some of the last cap space on an unplayable fourth quarter player...

on a team with multiple needs for outside shooting and spacing. and that's not even including the fact that he could just up and quit on the team, cash his checks and pout like he's done at multiple other places...

by the way, in case you haven't guessed, my thoughts are... no to the above questions. but i'm happy to be wrong.

If you're going to use that argument, then his DRTG was .03 behind Patrick Beverley and was better than Rubio this season.

But there's incredible fallacies in using defensive numbers.

The best part of last year's incredibly boring playoffs was watching Rondo play chess with Brad Stevens in the first round. It was impressive how he was calling out everything Boston was trying to do on offense and setting all of their defensive rotations.

fallacy or the numbers don't necessarily point to his skill level?

i'll stick with idea that the soon to be 32 year old who never fully recovered from his ACL surgery probably isn't the defensive stopper he used to be, and the scouting reports that say same.

Would love this move, and hopefully they add someone like Arron Affalo, we can go to the playoffs.

I get where you're going, but that's not a fair question to ask of a guy making $5 million or less. Those guys usually don't make your team better, you just want to minimize how much they're going to hurt you. Chicago's NetRtg with Rondo on court last year was -2.1 which was slightly better than DWade's -2.4. It also rates him slightly better than E'Tuwan Moore's -2.4 for the Pels.

I think signing Rondo is actually following that strategy. It's saying their trade options for a guard aren't there but they need to add someone because starting Quinn Cook doesn't help the Pels get to the playoffs either. And based on what they did last year I wouldn't be surprised if that's the direction they went if a Rondo wasn't added to the roster. They said they liked the Crawford/Moore pairing off the bench and stuck with it and paired Jrue with another ball handler. The Pels NetRtg with Frazier on the court was -3.0, so Rondo is at least an upgrade over Frazier.

Yea the price thing makes it easy to swallow that he's not a great fit. You can only go and get what's available to your team

Still have to go out and get a shooter.

Could the Rondo rumor be mutual leverage for he and the #Pelicans? Them for a trade and he against other teams?
