“Griff loves to go big game hunting, but he never bags anything.“

It just occurred to me our front office is these guys.

He wants miami, I think he'll get traded there at the end of the day. Stars get their way now.

The Blazers GM is getting roasted for mishandling this. Taking a bad deal will mean he loses his job. Other teams jumping in and throwing Durant/Sun's level deals are going to eliminate Miami, unless they can swing a multi team deal. The package I described destroys anything the Heat can offer. There are a handful of other teams that can do the same. I don't think he gets his way.

I kind of wonder if he backs off this in a couple of days and stays until the deadline..

The obvious 1st offer would have to be McCollum, Daniels, one of Murphy/Jones and 7 picks/swaps. I think the Blazers would have to consider that and would rival most packages..

There is no chance they put Trey and 7 picks/swaps on the table for a 32 yo Dame who openly expressed he wants to be in Miami. That’s malpractice. I don’t think anyone else comes close to that.

I think our best offer would be JV/CJ (possibly to 3rd teams) + Kira/Dyson/Hawkins + picks

Don’t think we get him but I would express an interest if only to give Portland some negotiating strength.

Dame getting traded is acceptable. Him demanding to be sent to Miami for peanuts, less so.

Why would we want to assist a western conference team doing a deal with an eastern conference team?

The comment I was replying to said we should show interest just to help Portland's negotiating strength.

My basis is that, knowing Griff, he wouldn't trade CJ with how infatuated he is being the adult in the building and in the locker room.

I think he'd trade Zion but don't think the Blazers would be interested in him (especially after keeping Jerami Grant)

I think, for them, it would have to be BI

Ultimately, it's moot...it's not going to happen

I'd consider including Zion in the deal, depending on what else it would take. It's a no-go with BI.

So trade the player that is a far superior player and would be the piece that would actually make Dame want to play here?

Makes no sense

Anyone who thinks we are trading Hawkins is tripping. That rumor yesterday was ludicrous.

That’s an offer for a Joel Embiid type.

Not a 32 year old Damian Lillard with a 2yr/120mil extension looming over years 35/36.

I just don't see teams like us or any non miami or brooklyn teams throwing huge offers for a guy that doesn't want to be there. The pels will probably throw an offer in but i highly doubt we put up our all in offer when dame has made it clear he wants miami.

So we are going to trade for Lillard and put him in the same backcourt with McCollum again?

That's not a great fit and then we are benching Murphy or Jones. It makes no sense to try that again. We'd want to build a big 3 of Lillard, Ingram and Zion. If we are reaching out, that would be the conversation.

For Portland, they want young assets and flippable contracts. McCollum can mentor Henderson/Sharpe and be moved next summer as an expiring. They get picks and a couple of young prospects that don't conflict with their current young players, they don't overlap.

I doubt any of this happens. But those would have to be the conversation ongoing. It's a big swing, kind of like when we traded for Cousins, who did not want to come here..

Damn y’all are crazy. This isn’t prime 25 year old Lillard. He’s 33, small and has an albatross of a contract. What do y’all think the Nets and Heat will offer? Here’s a hint, not anything close to packages like this.

Who, exactly?

Even Brooklyn can't really do this, unless they re-deal Bridges, and then why would Dame want to do that?

So many teams have blown their load and so many non-destination markets control so many future 1sts, there aren't many options. Same with Harden. The one guy the small population of teams who may believe they can win a title, are not in non-destination markets, and have assets would target is Embiid.

It makes sense if you don't believe Zion will ever be healthy and BI will play twice as many games as him over the next few years.

I'm not rushing to trade Zion. I'm just saying I'd listen to a trade for Dame involving Zion.
