Most fans want a team to keep the pick. We like rookies. We like what a player COULD be more than what a player is.
But whether we like it or not, Griffin’s arse is on the line. He needs to win.
So he will pursue trades like no tomorrow. Maybe he won’t get one and everyone gets their rookie.

Devin Booker wasn't even a starter in NCAA...I can understand Booker was #13.
It would be probably easiest to see Booker's upside against grown men

Sounds plausible if there is enough interest on both sides, but the timing could definitely blow up my fake trade scenario. 90% of Lonzo’s available game film can as well lol.

We might want to keep the pick, you never know.
Unless the player is in their 20s, on a decent contract, and is one of: PG, 3&D wing, stretch big I rather pick and gamble.
That being said: 10th overall picks
2010: Paul George (All-NBA)
2011: Jimmer Fredette (Bust)
2012: Austin Rivers (Role Player)
2013: CJ McCollum (Starter)
2014: Elfrid Payton (Role Player)
2015: Justise Winslow (Role Player)
2016: Thon Maker (Bust)
2017: Zach Collins (Role Player)
2018: Mikal Bridges (Starter)
2019: Cam Reddish (Role Player)
2020: Jalen Smith (TBD)
So really: 3 starters, 5 role players, 2 busts, 1 TBD
Odds are its a role player, but we kind of need those.

System and culture make a huge difference with who makes it. Some of those guys had great talent, just wrong time and place. I don't have great confidence in our organization developing young talent. That needs to be fixed..

Damn the most impactful role player out of that list is Rivers and he’s been garbage for most of his career (esp when we had him) except for some random playoff series.
I remember game 1 of AD and Rivers. Rivers was so frickin clumsy. We were winning the game despite that until he finally made a layup, but elbowed glass boy AD in the face in the process and gave him a concussion and I think he sat our the rest of the game and/or just wasn’t himself the rest of the game. The clues of impending doom were obvious in game 1 of that rebuild lol.

Most of those “role players” weren’t/aren’t ones for the team that drafted them.
Kind of strengthens the “trade it” argument.

That is because Calipari is a jackass who was the only one who thought those Harrison twins were the next Kobe Bryant.

I think it's probably most likely that we trade back and try to pick up a future first and maybe get off of Bledsoe or Adams.
Remember when we dumped Mo Pete's contract on OKC for #10 or #11 pick and the Pels got 2 picks in the 20s?
OKC has 16 and 18
Knicks have 19 and 21
Rockets have 23 and 24
I think it'd be hard to convince the Knicks to take on Adams or Bledsoe and eat up their cap space, but Houston and OKC seem like teams that would be interested in a deal like that.

Crewz is beating the frick out of this drum on Twitter.
He really really wants Griffin to trade back or pick up future picks or use a trade back to get off Bled.

10 and Bled for 18 and future first okc has from a good team?
10 and Bled for 23, 24 and some vets like Tate.

We already have a bunch of 2nds. Why add late 1sts? There are only so many guys we can stash other places..

Yeah the flaw in his argument is that it adds MORE rookies on the team. That doesn’t make sense to me.

Crazy that jae crowder only makes 10 mil a year.

That OKC trade I referenced ended up working out pretty well for the Pels. They got off bad money and drafted QPon and Craig Brackens.
That sounds like a bad draft, but Demps was the master of the trash trades and turned Brackens into Jason Smith and Willie Green. A year later he flipped QPon for Greivis Vasquez.
That 2010 draft was pretty bad though. Paul George went one spot ahead of the Pels at #10. The only career starters taken 11-30 were Bledsoe and Avery Bradley at 18/19.

Adams and pick 10 for OkC 16 and 18 lol.

I’d have to see who is available. Never thought Halliburton woukd slide so for down last year. We shoulda been blowing up the Suns to make that trade. Their guy was gonna be there if the trade was made.

Griff should be fired if he does that trade.
