The prevailing theme of my post last night was meant to be more about the idea of moving up in the draft in order to flip That pick for a legitimate good player more so than that specific Love trade . That player could be any of the guys that seem to be brought up repeatedly ( SGA, Brogdon, KAT , whomever ) I would do cartwheels for Shai.

I just don’t see us in a position to trade back and kick the can down the road if Zion already has his hands around the neck of the franchise and Griff has flushed 10s of millions of Gayle’s dollars down the drain in 2 years without much money coming in. Griff needs/has to make a splash to change the narrative around the franchise .

As an example, and admittedly it may be too convenient of an example , The Hawks got aggressive this off-season . Sent a message to Trae got players that have helped them win games in Gallo and Bog. Made some moves for other guys that didn’t work out, got internal growth from some key guys like Huerter and Collins, and fixed their coaching situation .

How do we do that though? That's the question. Everyone keeps saying that there are less sellers this season because of the play-in, so in order to be a buyer of a player of this caliber, we're probably going to have to include a good player in the trade.

You don't have to include BI, that's for sure. THat's just dumb, and counter productive to what we are trying to do.

I think you have to ask yourself if you want to give NAW the chance to become that guy, or if you want a more proven guy there right now. If you trade for a Beal, or any 2, NAW is likely the guy that needs to go out in the trade. He's ready to be a starter.
You keep NAW, then getting a guy like Brogdon makes a lot of sense to put next to him.

Just spitballing here . . .

There has been plenty of talk of trading back and then trading those for future first. I understand this thought process but also firmly believe there has to be a true sense of urgency this summer . Is there an opportunity to potentially trade up?

For instance a deal with Cavs to take on Love and pick 3 for pick 10, salary, and a late future 1st? The Cavs won’t otherwise ever get a positive asset for Love . If you put that on the table do they bite ?

Now you have pick 3 and remaining war chest to deal for a higher end player.

Obviously you don’t do the deal with the Cavs without having some sort of agreement in place for a trade with that 3rd pick .

Thoughts ?

No way would they give up that much to move Love. What salaries would we use to match? Bledsoe may help them as he is only fully guaranteed next season. However, Adams has $35 million for 2 years left. I would do that deal even if I did not have a deal to move #3. Green would certainly be a nice consolation.

think they would lol and hang up if we offered 10 and Kira for #4. This is a 4-5 player draft.

who is pelicans coach?

reminds me of big tuna Jets coach insisting on choosing players.

a brief sad look back says stan running so much bledsoe vs letting kira and naw get so much pt that it's now obvious what kira is and naw is.

no one is dealing for Kira now.
