Sarcasm. Someone repeated the quote to coach Gates and he rolled his eyes. To Fells credit he went out and had 2 good games.

Since the Pels are out of cap room and exceptions, should we close this thread? Or change it to the Official Pelicans Small Forward Void thread?

So on a different note what does our roster look like at this point? (whats a fair prediction)
PG: Holiday/Rivers/Smith
SG: EG/Reke/(Rivers)
SF: Salmons/Fells/(Reke)
PF: AD/Ryno/Babbitt/Young
C: Asik/Ajinca/Withey
thats 14 roster spots and I guess Fells, Babbitt, and Young are the unknowns
i edited Casspi out

They're not out of exceptions I believe.
Could easily turn it into an offseason thread if needed.

That looks pretty fair but I feel a SF trade coming.
Casspi got waived and babbit might later(i think)

I was mostly joking. We have the biannual, right?

The waiver isn't official yet, but it seems to be a sure thing:

Casspi confirmed upon return to Israel tonight that he will be waived by the Pelicans. "We agreed it would be best for me to go elsewhere."

We're trading EG for Josh Smith
since that worked so damn well (kidding)

Not a big one or anything.
I see us going after an unheralded one ala lopez 2 years ago.

One SF still on the market is evan turner. If we still have the full mid level exception, maybe he will bite on the deal because there aren't any teams offering him the max.

Out of the "younger" cheap small forwards available, who would you guys rather? I'm guessing we could land one of Wes Johnson, Jordan Hamilton, or Chris Douglas-Roberts. I'm also assuming we'll go young after the "older" choice of John Salmons.
My preference for the position would be a trade for a younger piece (don't see this as super plausible) or old man Shawn Marion, but I don't think that either of those options are going down.

A. We don't have the full MLE.
B. That fricker can't shoot worth a lick.

Evan Turner and Reke on the floor together would be a nightmare.

@rick_bonnell The Charlotte Hornets will sign Lance Stephenson to a 3-year contract, the last season a team option, the Observer has learned.
Hey Pacers, looking for a new 2 guard? Haaaaave you met Eric?
This may actually be our best chance to trade EG. They now have a huge hole at the 2 guard and with the East being much more open, I can't see them not trying to upgrade over what they now have.

Yeah, Indiana would be the most likely trade spot for EG. But I doubt they want that contract with his injury history. And I'm not sure what the trade options would be.
Why wait? Everyone has already declared that Noel is the greatest player in the NBA.

but let's wait until a 28 year old player, who hasn't played a second in the NBA, goes against real NBA players before we say he's better than someone already in the NBA. Fells has been impressive, and I'm not exactly beating the drum to sign Jimmer, but I do think he could be a Morrow replacement if we felt we still needed one.

The problem is they're already nearing the tax threshold. They would have to send out multiple players to match salaries, and nobody they'd be willing to move would help us much.

To trade EG to Indy, it would have to be a 3 team trade to make sense for us. They don't have any players that would make sense for us, and dumping EG for nothing would almost be a waste at this point.
