They are interested in getting rid of the picks to clear cap space. We could offer them cap flexibility through the trade, while still offering them future first rounders. Atlanta could probably get a better deal elsewhere if we are being honest.

Lol ok. I won't be mad regardless of who the Pelicans pick because the draft can be a crapshoot. Anyone could be a bust and anyone could become an all star.

If I were GM of the Pelicans

It's no secret the pels have put themselves in an awful situation, with no real tradable assets (outside of the 2016 draft pick and maybe Jrue). That being said, we have to get creative in order to fuel our rebuild. With the Hawks wanting to unload their two first round draft picks, it is time to finally be the one trading for draft picks rather than giving them up.

Here's what I would do if I were GM on draft night:
No. 6 pick Jaylen Brown
I'd like to have Dunn, but he is the favorite to be picked by the celtics at #3 and he sure as he'll isn't falling out of the top five. It seems like this board has been screaming for a small forward for the past five years, here he is. Sure, he doesn't have a jump shot. Neither did Anthony Davis, Jimmy Butler, and a handful of other guys. Most of the time, it seems like the defense comes first, then a player develops a three game afterwards to make them the sought after 3 and D player. Brown has a tremendous work ethic and has a great supporting cast of NBA vets around him. Also, he can drive the ball well and is extremely athletic. If we don't pick him, he could easily be the guy that haunts us.

Two trades:
Pelicans trade: 2017 top 3 protected first round
Atlanta trade: Tiaggo Splitter, picks no.12 and 21
Pels may need to add a draft pick

Atlanta wants to clear up cap space in order to resign horford, we eat the contract of splitter in exchange for two first round draft picks.

Pelicans trade: no. 21 and Omer Asik
Nets trade: 2016 second round pick top 55 protected or extinguished
Brooklyn is desperate for a pick, seeing that they don't have control over their first round draft pick until 2019. They might as well get a draft pick and eat up a contract while they are losing.

With the 12th pick, I would I draft labissiere, who has the potential as good as anyone in the draft.

The picks provide you with an insane amount of potential, you don't win unless you gamble sometimes. Also, we get flexibility with the Asik contract out of the way.
That's a bit overpriced for a forward coming off an ACL tear, even with how money is being thrown at players now. I don't really see much of an incentive for them doing the deal now. I'm just not sure I view him as a close-to-max guy even if he was healthy.j
I'm convinced we will win a title next year.

It might be 20 or close to it, if you include the NBATV games. But as for ESPN and TNT, we will probably get 5-8 games
NBA Rumors: Clippers are interested in David West to fill void left by Jordan, according to CBS sports
Rolo getting 4 years 54 million makes me feel pretty good about Asik's contract

You're joking right? Spurs are going to match any offer. Also, I wouldn't want rondo, we already have jrue
No, I'm realistic somewhat. I know we aren't going to get any of the players listed. But I just don't see Quincy Acy as a fit for the team

re: Pelicans Interested in Quincy Acy

Wow! An undersized power forward! Where do I sign?
I agree, but I wouldn't want to see us give up an asset for a center. Resigning Asik is probably our best option. If he leaves and we give up a 1st round pick and/or a valuable asset for a starting center, then we really take a step back as a franchise. If we sign a center with the MLE, then we don't have much room to improve with the small forward. We would be stuck using the BAE or trading more assets for improving at the position.
How screwed are we if asik doesn't want to stay in New Orleans?
D wade is never going to come to New Orleans. lol aren't just opted in for 2015-2016, Miami probably isn't thrilled, maybe we could snag him for almost nothing.

re: TBW: Tobias Harris the answer?

I completely agree. He always gives fans something to be excited about, regardless of whether or not you agree with the roster moves.
I just don't get why Anthony Davis would be in a commercial that advertises for the finals. It would be like if they advertised for the Pelicans vs. warriors playoff series with a highlight reel of lebron James
If I had to guess, the offense gentry will run in New Orleans will more closely resemble the Suns, both teams have Stars at power forward and point guard (Jrue is close enough)

Oh no!
I guess Dell is giving the coach interviewing its due negligence.

That's a big concern with me too. At least gentry has had recent success and is currently coaching
This year is crucial for the Pelicans. They need a draft pick, and they really screwed that up. They need to trade for a pick in the late top 10 to try to snag either Willie Caullie Stein, Sam Dekker, Kelly Oubre, or any other SF or C prospect.

re: We should go after Tom izzo

Age isn't that big of a deal. He's only 60, Alvin gentry is 60 too, he's actually older than izzo.
