It is speculation at this point, but I'm guessing Demetrius Jackson is involved in some form of trade talks. No reason for him not to play.

The #Wizards have matched Otto Porter's max contract offer sheet from the Brooklyn Nets, The Post has learned.

Story coming soon.

So that frees up the Nets cap space to go after KCP. In theory after that a Lin trade could happen if that's what the Pels are working for.

That's good news. Hopefully they make a big offer to KCP soon. Then we could see dominoes start to fall.

Yeah, but if Lin is the target, trying to pressure Brooklyn into a deal before they're ready would only increase the price.

I'm more curious about the supposed disagreement between Demps and Gentry over Swaggy P. What would it mean that Demps likes their trade options better than using the MLE on Nick Young and Gentry doesn't? Is this Demps doing Demps things and getting players that match him more than his coaches, or is it more of a disagreement about asset usage, like stretching Asik now to stay out of the tax vs. holding onto him to use in a future year.

It did, but I doubt that he would have guessed that Washington would be dicks about the physical.

He's talking about this.

Porter still has to take a physical for Wizards, so the official match won’t happen until early next week. But it’s happening.

I'm not sure if that actually delays it because the way Larry Coon characterizes it, the rules say it ties your money up for 2 days.

Basically, the Wizards can hold Brooklyn's cap space hostage for the next four days because they have until Monday to get physical done and then another two days to announce results.

It's a dick move but well within the rules.

We all think that a potential Lin trade is contingent upon the Porter deal being finalized

I would imagine that the money is still tied up, unless failing the physical causes the initial offer to cancel as well (which may occur because that's what happened to Motiejunas).

Interesting...wouldn't mind him as a 4th or 5th big if we move Ajinca and Asik (as wishful thinking as that may be)

Woj

ETA: by my calculations they can still offer KCP a deal starting around 20 mil, which multi-year is better than that one year 22-23 mil deal that the Lakers could offer.

Ajinca + QPon for Lin saves Brooklyn about $3.2 million. I wonder if that can lower the cost for Lin, or at least get us a 2nd in return for our 1st.

Would love that deal. I like the idea of Lin on the team, but if we're not into paying the tax unless we're contending, then I'm worried that Lin would end up being a one year rental.

I don't think that Boogie's an idiot. Using a first to get Lin, making the playoffs, and letting Lin walk because he costs too much wouldn't be much more appealing to Boogie than keeping the 2018 pick and finishing 9th in the West. And with Asik essentially being an expiring next season, using that 2018 pick + him might be able to get us a better option.

Demps and Gentry supposedly saved their job based on the argument that stability would help Cousins want to stay in NOLA. If keeping Lin were a necessary to keep Cousins, I think they could probably get it approved. The new TV money changes the economics a lot. I think even a small market team can be profitable going a little into the tax now. The real problem with going into the tax is starting the clock on the repeater tax.

I agree. Also think that Dell should not put pressure on Lin/Bledsoe franchises...
He should wait. There is no need to hurry.
Also by waiting he should get a bargain signings, when other teams wont will have less and less space.

That's what he's doing. It's why I'm not freaking out about the lack of additions this offseason. Keep flexibility, wait for an under-performing team (Denver, Portland) or over-performing team (a few in the East that wants to tank but may flirt with an 8 seed, say Orlando) that doesn't like their situation come January, then make a move.
