Man, one more semi-major piece would be freaking awesome. I hope Dell is able to pull it off. The more I think about it, the more I'm ok with him mortgaging our future further. The future is now. I'd think some teams would be intrigued by 2 lightly protected (#1-3) picks in the 2018-2021 range. I'd hope two first would not only get us the player but also a salary dump.

I also don't think Batum is going anywhere. CHA just traded for Dwight. They're making a run at it in the Leastern Conference. Hard to think they aren't an easy playoff team this year.

ETA: I'm ready to push the chips all in. Who knows if we will ever have two talents like AD and Boogie again in their primes. fricking go for it. Why not?

so why did we re-sign Jrue again?

Because they weren't smart enough to trade him while they still had the leverage in the relationship.

hopefully, because Bledsoe doesnt make this team dangerous. Why the do people want a scoring oriented guard when we have 2 big men that can average 25ppg? frick do you want to take the ball out of their hands with a ball hogging guard like bledsoe?

If you start combing advanced stats like usage rate, time of possession, and total passes, Conley, D'Angelo Russel, Rose, Kyrie, Westbrook, Rondo, Lowry, Isaiah Thomas are all way ahead of Eric Bledsoe

you do want a guard that's a good enough ball handler/passer that he can get the ball to AD/DC and someone that can be a threat the defense has to respect.

i hear you and get the point. but, to me, thats what Holiday is getting paid for. playing lead ball handler is what he has done his entire career.

we can talk about how effective he actually is in that role, but that is a different conversation since they are committed to him now. if they had moved on from Holiday, sure. go see if you can get Bledsoe.

but, it just doesnt seem wise given where they are right now. remember, we got to watch a variation of this experiment first hand w/ Holiday, Evans, and Gordon. it was not the smoothest of fits

Well not based on last years stats, that isn't true.

Even so those guys are 1st and second options.

We either want to build our team through our "top 10" big men, or we don't. Adding Bledsoe takes away from that. We don't need another 20ppg scorer

dude. this is just shoddy work. only Kyrie, Westbrook, and IT had higher usage rates last year. all were top 10. along w/ Anthony Davis and Demarcus Cousins.

if you dont think there is a problem in adding Bledsoe, say that. but dont make up stats to do so

This the key and people need to realize this. We're committed to Holiday as the Lead guard. He's going to have every opportunity to be the guy in the backcourt.

Unless he shows that he can't handle the position after a couple of seasons, I seriously doubt they'd bring in anyone who would threaten his position. Especially this early on. Anyone we bring in right now, will be a Backup and they will know this before they sign.

I would not get my hopes up for a Bonafide starting caliber PG this offseason.

They wanted to sign Jeremy Lin before but Brooklyn outbid Demps.

I hear what you are saying, I really do. But it's not like Bledsoe is some chucker. He was 18th amongst PG's in true shooting percent. Holiday was 34th for comparison.

I think we all saw this team works better with two ball handlers. Ideally Holiday plays more off ball.

And while we still want to play off our bigs, make no mistake our issues were on offense last season. We absolutely want another 20 ppg scorer.

Defensively we were 6th in the entire league in points per shot. That's awesome. We were tied with 5 teams for 21st in points per shot offensively. We need another scorer.

Lin isn't a starting caliber PG imo. He's a backup. And I bet our interest was due to Holiday being out for a significant time.

I'm all for Bledsoe if he accepts a 6th man role. Don't want him taking shots away from Boogie/AD and Jrue at that since we just threw him 25 mill a year

$$, but thought playing time/role was part of his choice too. if it was a 6th man role, that is different than what you'd be brining in Bledsoe for.

the funny thing is that most Pels fans would love to have Beverly play PG next to Holiday and Davis/Cousins. he's a very good defender, can shoot the 3, and doesnt need the ball, but can offer some creation...sounds similar to Moore----Beverly is better than Moore

i think 2 things are getting mixed up here-

the Pels need more off the dribble playmaking/passing

the Pels need a starting PG since most Pels fans see Holiday as a 2

those 2 things can be different players and can mean different things. i certainly get the idea that many have put forth about needing creation when Holiday or one of the bigs is sitting. but that is different than they need that creator to be starting in the backcourt next to Jrue

The plan is to bring in another ball handler to lessen Jrue's load, but is not a primary ball handler. Sounds like they want another combo guard.

From Gentry:
quote:

If you’re able to keep Jrue Holiday, would you prefer to pair him with someone who is a primary ballhandler and allow him to play at a mostly off-ball spot?

No. I want to pair him with someone who can handle the ball some and then Jrue can handle the ball some. I just don’t want to put all of the ballhandling stuff on Jrue because I think when we do, it takes away some of the best stuff that he does. It takes away some of his aggression.

I want him to be able to be Jrue, if we are lucky enough to be able to get him back, and I think he’s a guy who will handle the ball and make plays. But if he’s partnered with someone who can handle the ball, it takes some of that pressure off of him.

Again, that doesn't mean we bring in a guy like Bledsoe. It means we bring in guys who can play that role.

The narrative is this will take care of itself once our guys get time together

Even so, you can add offense without it being a ball dominant guard like Bledsoe. I'm not arguing we don't need offense, in particular shooters. We're building a team in real life, not a video game. Bledsoe would be cool in NBA2k17, not in real I life.

As much as I hate nick young he'd be a much better fit

I don't think so either. But a 25MPG spark bench would be phenomenal.

He's a solid offensive contributor, he can distribute, he can rebound, he can shoot well (not excellent)

He's average defensively

If you get him you have 96 minutes to split between: Jrue, Moore, Crawford, Jackson, Cook, and Lin if you trade for him.

Jrue: 32
Moore: 20
Lin: 25
Crawford/Jackson/Cook/Ghost of QPon: 19

Why is Lin a better fit than Bledsoe again?
