Wonder if they would be willing to take Asik a pick and Pondexter for Lin?

I'm not giving up a pick for Lin, nor am I giving up a pick to get rid of Asik.

I'd do Asik and a first for Booker/LeVert, although I doubt Brooklyn would do that.
or Asik for Booker/Harris and we can swap our first (top 20 protected) for their 2nd.

Don't see that. If they wanted to do that, they would have just made the deal a 3 team deal.

I think keeping our pick and staying flexible is best, just look how Phoenix went from listening to our offer of crappy picks for Bledsoe to maybe getting Kyrie. But there is an interesting upside to making a Lin rental and clearing cap space.

Rondo/Holiday/Hill/AD/DC/Moore/Miller/Diallo/Jackson/Ajinca would be about $6-$7 million under the tax even after maxing out Cousins. If this core worked you could have Diallo replace Cunningham and Ajinca, add some shooting and stay out of the tax for another year. 2 years from now you might have a star knocking on your door making the tax worth it. That's a tempting path to take, although it assumes a lot of bets the team has already made like Diallo and Rondo will pay off.

I agree. I would rather keep the 1st and maintain the flexibility that something may come up at the deadline or next offseason. It appears we are just going to have to bite the bullet with Asik eventually and buy him out (and stretch him), maybe next offseason.

I don't see it as that big of a deal. Stretching him at any point won't create some huge cap space for us when we have $100M tied up between AD/Cousins/Jrue/Solo/Moore.

I think when the time comes in a year and a half, where a team can take him on at the trade deadline and cut him in the offseason, he'll be valuable and useful to us in getting another all star. needs to be a team that has a guy on salary for the next 3 years starting now, and want the cap space in that 3rd year over that player.

so where would Crabbe fit in our lineup? Would he come off the bench?

But it could mean the difference between tax or not.

Nah. we are right on the edge of it. can't be that difficult to send out QPon and/or Ajinca to get out of the tax, if we even get into it.

Not free agency but...

That sucks for the Suns that they can't try to dump him now and he was their backup, but at least they will get about $7M in insurance.

In hindsight letting Crabbe walk would have been better, but Portland at least got a chance to see if he would live up to the deal I suppose.

The team was expecting the $109-112M Salary cap this offseason that was projected last year iirc.

I desperately wanted Afflalo. Screw the magic and their weird roster make-up.

They have way too many guards on their roster. Why did they need another?
