He also mentioned that same deal for Crabbe. I think I'd be okay with that. Crabbe is a knockdown shooter, and can play some 2 and 3.
Rondo
Holiday
Crabbe
Davis
Cousins
Would be a nice lineup to run with at times.

Crabbe is also 24 instead of 30 and a shell of his former self after an achilles injury. The problem with Crabbe is his trade kicker bumps him from $18 to $23.

Crabbe and Matthews are shite contracts. They won't get any real value back trading those guys, let alone a good player in Moore, an expiring insurance contract in QPon and a 1st round pick. Get real.
Wait. Dell Demps.

Not giving up Moore AND a first for Matthews. I love the dudes presence in locker rooms as well as his play but he's not somebody we need to give up a first for.
You have to pay to play to dump Asik
And Moore shot a career high 3PA last season at 208.
Matthews has averaged 490 3PA over the past 4 seasons @ 38%
Asik and Pondexter are dumps. The 1st is the kicker to take them. You swap Moore for the real shooter you need

He shot 36 percent 2 years in a row.
He makes 17 and 18 million.
That is a huge amount to give up for that dude.

Matthews tore his too at the end of 2015 season. He led the Mavs in minutes last year.
On average, a guy returning from Achilles sees his minutes drop by 27%. Matthews already defying the odds of returning from that injury like Chauncey Billups and Dominque Wilkins
Normally the Achilles is a career killer. Matthews is a dawg that can shoot, if he's dealt he's going to a contender and will help them a lot imo

36% on 1000 3P, meh. He's not Klay Thompson. You're talking about what's available out there at this point, though
He's also a lock down defender. He would've made All D team if the Mavs weren't terrible. Shows that athleticism is still there. Rick carlisile gushes about the guy, so the Dell demps stuff goes out the window for me
Bottom line is this team needs a shooter. That guy isn't etwaun Moore or hill. Get Matthews and actually give those open 3P looks with AD and Cousins a chance.

Shot a higher 3P% than Matthews two years in a row.

On 700 less attempts
If you want to cherry pick the last two seasons, here are the guys who've attempted at or more 3P than Matthews
I mean, you're taking the guys in his company as your shooter, no questions asked, yes? I'm not even talking the higher up guys, I'm taking Lillard, IT, Ariza, Harden
Or the 3 guys who've attempted at or more 3P than Matthews since he came into the league

It's also about opening up future cap room. Matthews is essentially an expiring next year with option. If you get Asik off the books I'm good with it. Especially if you're OK with playing him less minutes to be a gunner.

Yep
and his contract is big, but you've already made a deal w devil acquiring cousins, rondo, and overpaying jrue and hill
Go all in, see what happens. If people really think this is a playoff team as is, adding a guy like WM only decreases the value of that pick as is

Asik is owed 25 millions. Stretching him you are owed 3,5 per 7 years. Looks like Dell does not want/is not allowed to do it.
Matthews is owed little more money and actually can play. And has shorter deal...
Dont like his player option which he will probably excersise.
But this is the reason why they wanna get rid of him.
I like this deal for NO.
Pels will be a tax team after next season. You would have to pay much more and longer for Crabbe.
I have two options. Matthews or Bazemore.
Hopefully both can be had for around the same package.

I'd expect cash and Pon going out to another team soon. Use that money to bring Dante bscj. Still trying to dump Asik

Makes sense. I didn't think we would be able to just move him and cash considerations seems to be a bigger thing this offseason.
I like Dante. He's turned himself into a decent bench player.
Don't think we will ever be able to dump Asik.

but i can see the wisdom in going all in, like Gyno says. the idea of flexibility is gone if they want to keep this core. but if you can turn Asik + Moore into a player who can help at a position of need, even one that is overpaid, why not at this point?
real question is why does Dallas make this swap? they're gunning for the playoffs too. how does this help them?

One item I've overlooked: #Pelicans fully expect SG Darius Miller to be on the roster and provide solid 3-point shooting off the bench.
I'm told several NBA teams wanted to bring Miller in. It's unclear what kind of guarantee he has, #Pelicans gave him best chance to succeed.

Can confirm. Miller is expected to contribute.
Miller has expanded his game in Europe and the Pels are giving him a chance to showcase it here.
I don't want to stunt Diallo's growth by bringing Jones back, but if they did you could have a bench unit of
Rondo/Crawford/Miller/Jones/Cousins
The team should probably do it just to help Fox Sports sell FSNO to cable providers in Kentucky.

And for those questioning Miller.
Watch some his highlights from Germany.
You have seen him last time 3 years ago. Within that time you can develop. At least some...
He is rotation guy. Not starter.
