I like Crabbe, but, we'd have Cousins/AD/Jrue/Crabbe making a over $100M next year. Only way it's feasible for us to make a trade for a guy that will make that much money, is if he makes us a title contender, and I don't think that person is Crabbe. I believe Crabbe has a trade kicker which would bump his salary to $23M next year.

A deal involving Asik/Toupane/Moore would provide them with a much cheaper replacement in Moore, and save them $8-9M in salary by stretching Asik and cutting Toupane, which could get them close if not under the tax. I know they are in bad shape when it comes to that.

I mean getting rid of Asik to get an elite shooter is almost a deal we can't pass up. But that does lock in $19 mil over 3 years to Crabbe which is a major tough pill to swallow.

At that point we better hope FJ is ready to roll because we wont be able to sign anyone with Jrue, Crabbe, AD, and Cousins on the roster

But youre right, what shouldn't be lost in this is the desire to move Asik. Yes we want to get rid of him, but only if it'll give us a chance to get a player that moves us into the conversation with Houston, Golden State, and San Antonio

We can't take on Crabbe, that is just way too much salary, even trading Asik's carcass.

I'd rather ride it out than do that. Asik and Ajinca will both be significantly more tradable next offseason.

Would it be crazy to suggest Asik + Solo for Crabbe?

Not so fast

Then per his twitter.

Looks like not a lot of interest at the moment.

@FletcherWDSU 1. No surprise here because #Pelicans need shooting. NBA source tells me it's "very possible" free agent Luke Babbitt could return to NOLA.

Why can't we just sign Shabazz and call it an offseason? He has the most potential left out of any remaining free agents and also fits a position of need ( shooting).

Because we don't have any space to sign him and he's a bad perimeter shooter.

Yea Bazz isn't the shooter you think he is

I hope Dell and Gentry are telling Solo to shoot all day, every day, make all of his trash cans hoops, only play beer pong in his free time, and make his laundry basket a hoop.

Most don't know that last year was Solo's best shooting season at 34.8% from 3. First year he was at 30%, and the last 2 years he shot 32%. So if he can continue to improve, maybe get up to 36% Solo will be a true 3 & D player that'll add major value to this roster

I have said this a lot, but he shot 37% on C&S 3's and that was with adjusting to a new system and constantly changing lineups. McMillian confirmed he has been working on his shot all offseason. I think being more comfortable in the system that is better suited for th personnel and being able to find his spots more naturally, he will get to 40+% on C&S 3's and 37-40 overall.

while we all want Solo to improve his 3 point shooting, i think it's more important for him to improve at getting to the rim, either by driving with the ball, or cutting without the ball, and then finishing at the rim or drawing contact to get to the line, where he is a good FT shooter.

Him going from 35% to 36% isn't really all that big of a difference. Teams still won't give a shite about him shooting a 3. If he starts moving more without the ball and finding lanes to cut and have Rondo or our big men find him for an easy 2, that will help with spacing more than the 2% better from 3. Him getting to the line 4-5 times a game instead of 1-2 would be really nice. He has the body to draw the contact. We've seen him do this from time to time. I think we are going to be shooting a lot of free throws this year b/c of our big men and how often they draw fouls. We'll be in the bonus a lot. A guy like Hill, who isn't a good scorer, but a good FT shooter, needs to be more aggressive when we are in the bonus and get him some free points.

Terrance Jones has a great pump fake. If you don't believe me, you don't know what you're watching, or you don't watch.
Never seen so many idiots get fooled by it. There's just something about it that's so enticing. i guess it's so slow you just assume you can slam the shot back down his throat, so you can't help but go for it.
